Name, College, Year of Study

Shubhi Sharma,Campus Law Centre, 3rd Year, [email protected]

Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength

Centre For Legislative Research and Advocacy, New Delhi. One Director and two research executives and around 15-20 research interns.

Application Procedure

I applied on my own to [email protected]

Generally for the months like June and July, one should apply 3-4 months in advance and for rest of the months one can apply a month before.

Minimum 40 days and timings are pretty flexible.

The office timings are 10 a.m to 5 p.m but if you are working on some project that requires research then you can take permission from the Director and work from home and come 2-3 days a week to show your research.

First Day Impression and Infrastructure

The office is not so big and is in the residential area so I was apprehensive about the work culture as all the executives were informally dressed. I was made to wait to meet the Director for small interview.

But once I met the Director, all my doubts were removed as he is very polite. He asked me about my area of interest and I was assigned a task to make a policy for Parliamentarians on BRAI Bill, 2013 on the first day itself.

Main Tasks

I did extensive research on Biotechnology Authority of India Bill, 2013 and made a policy brief for Parliamentarians which fortunately got published too.

After that I made Political parties manifestos. I also submitted a research paper on PWDVA Act, 2005. I also worked on the United Nations Millenium Development Goals, 2015.

I also got a chance to meet Mr. Dinesh Triwedi, Former Railway Minister at his residence and Mrs. Smriti Irani, HRD Minister.

Work Environment

The work environment is very cool. You don’t have to come in formals. All the Director is concerned is with your quality of work.

The Director Sir was very helpful, and always ready to help.

Good Things

Informals. Very peaceful work environment. There was a kitchen in the office itself and a full time helper so you can ask him a cup of coffee if you feel like.

You will be given work only if you show interest, otherwise you can come daily, pass your time and can go with a certificate in the end.

Bad Things

No good eating joint near by. There was one Dhaba nearby so we used to ask the office helper to get us food from there.

Biggest Lesson

No matter how big the responsibility of work is, if you have confidence and the will power to do it you can easily do it.
