About the Author

I am Siddharth Sharma, Student in Final Year of BBA LLB (Hons.) Course at Amity Law School, Center 2, Amity University, Noida. I wish to be a litigating lawyer in future.

About The Lawyer

92 years old and Counting! Age is just a number for Mr. Ram Jethmalani.

Mr. Ram Jethmalani has achieved it all. He is a Senior Advocate practicing at the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. He is a Senior Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha. Was the Ex-Minister of Law and Justice among many other prestigious honors that one can achieve in a lifetime.

Application Procedure

The standard procedure is to apply at Ram Sir’s Official Mail ID:

But being a very senior lawyer, there are a lot of requests for internships and very few internships slots are there at office.

I would only recommend students with good internship experience to apply for the internship along with a letter of recommendationIn my opinion there is a better chance of an experienced student with some recommendations to get selected.

Nature of Work

Ram Sir being a Senior Advocate in appellate court mostly accepts briefs from solicitors. Briefing is one particular type of work. Another work is darting which associates do that I had the chance to assist by doing research work. One of the best thing one can learn from this office is by observing Ram Sir argue in court. It is nothing short of magic.

Every performance is a work of art. My eyes shall be deceiving me if I believed that a 92 year old person is arguing. It was the inspiration of my lifetime to see someone at this age put in more efforts, dedication, hardwork, working hours and energy than any other lawyer I could think of.

One advise that Ram Sir gave me and I shall forever cherish was to be an architect in combining law and facts and to start my practice in the district courts. The biggest treasure that I gained from my experience was the inspiration to work hard as I had a chance to see the hard work and efforts that Ram Sir put along with the whole office team which I believed is a hallmark of success.

Office Culture

The office culture is very precise. Ram Sir is the Senior arguing Counsel. Lata Ma’am is the head of the firm and in charge of all the operations such as briefing, drafting, etc. She supervises the office work including five associates .She is very learned, hardworking and humble.

After Lata Maam , the senior most associate is Mala Maam who is an advocate on record and is also very hardworking and humble. The Secretary of Ram Sir is Mr. Sanjay who is a very friendly and helpful person.

Best Moment

When the verdict in the NJAC case was announced. It was a proud moment in office as Ram sir was the sole dissent in the NJAC Act in the upper house of the parliament as he felt that independence of Judiciary would be compromised.

It was indeed a proud moment for the office as the fight from being the sole dissent in the upper house of the parliament to finally arguing the act to get struck down on the ground of it being unconstitutional was won.
