I interned under an advocate on record, Supreme Court of India. His name is Ravindra S. Garia. His office is located in Laxmi Nagar, New Delhi-92.

Application Process

The application process was as usual, that I had sent CV and a cover letter in May first week and got his reply in June mid, that I can join the internship from 1st of July.

Duration of internship and timings

1st July, 2015 – 25th July, 2015

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The first day I reported him at the High Court, then later at the office.

He asked me about my interest in various subjects of laws, etc. And then gave me Labor Law related matter to research.

Main tasks

I was assigned with various types of cases- Matrimonial cases, Labor cases and Criminal Cases.

At the desk work and proceedings, I had been assigned with other tasks-

• Relevant Research Work

• Drafted proper arguments

• Writing notes and articles based on her study

• Attended Client counseling

I attended High Court & Supreme Court hearings as well.

Work environment and people

The AOR is an excellent teacher. He makes everything so simple and easy to learn. The work environment was pretty good.

Best things

I learned to draft case memos and legal notices. Also, the client counseling used to get very interesting at times.

Bad things

The office used to get quite congested after lunch, since all the associates and other advocates would be back after court hours.


No Stipend

Biggest Lessons

Litigation requires a lot of time to understand. Almost your whole day would be gone in serving your clients. It simply requires hard work, patience and a lot of dedication.
