I personally went to sir”s chamber, seat number 9 opposite Delhi Bar Sub Office, Western Wing, Tis Harari, Delhi for my internship with my resume. He asked me certain question then he say you can come to me for internship.
Afterwards he asked me the date of internship and supply me with a copy of confirmation letter.
Duration of internship and timings
1st – 27th July, 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
At the very first day sir asked me which which subjects you have read I mentioned all the subject then he gave me a case file of dowry death and asked me to read. I started reading that. In between clients came up with the new cases and discuss with sir. I was also hearing the same after they went sir asked me that what you think about the case, what should be done we started discussing about the case.
Meanwhile sir see the watch and it was 1.45 pm and client came whose hearing was timed at 2.00 pm. We with client rushed into the court room, I saw cause list then we came to know about the serial no of case. We waited till our turn came then a voice came, it was our turn we entered into court room.
Sir was representing the accused side and it was a case of sec 135 NI act (cheque bounce case), when sir stated cross examining the prosecution witness I was flatter with the advocacy skill of sir. Sir was so calm and doing his work on the other hand the learnt council lost his temper and without any sufficient reason object the sir’s question put to prosecution witness. Then it gets over and got next date of hearing was given by judge. Then we return back to chamber and it was 3.20 pm.
Sir tell me that have you brought your lunch I said yes, then he said you must eat lunch on lunch time then I said there were clients I don’t think appropriate to do so. He asked me for coffee, we had coffee together. Then he asked me you might be tired as it is your first day you can go early.
I went to court room with sir in which cases was there, I read facts of the cases a day before the case. sir asked me to frame the arguments in certain cases then he modifies and use it. I made reply of W/S from the side of respondent in divorce case and filled it.
I also made quashing F.I.R u/s 482 which has to be filled before Hon’ble High Court Delhi. I came to know about the stages of civil court, criminal court and labour court. I learnt to search dates and status of various cases in the court through the register. I was new to mediation, I also saw how mediation happen in divorce case if parties want to settle the case.
Work environment and people
Work environment was favorable to me. In court room I usually went with sir he use to tell me about the case. He also introduce me to his colleagues also.
The best part of my internship was that I was asked to handle a case by myself the client, filling complain, to discuss it with my sir everything. I came to know about the Abc’s of the litigation.
I got to know the problem from the basic level and of common people, which are not discussed much. You learn how much difficult is the life for most of the people.Sir is very knowledgeable and used to help me, guide me in many new things. Not only that he used to have general discussion with me about the cases argument which is very rare to manage time in the busy scheduled of Advocate.
As such I didn’t find any bad thing regarding my internship.
District court is a place where a case is made or a case worsens. For basics best place to intern is district case.
I stayed at my relative’s house.
The timings were flexible, we started from 9:30 am till 5.00 pm. Even if i want half day that was also allowed by sir , just i have to inform him a day before.
