Duration of internship and timings

2nd May to 31st May, 2016

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On the very first day, my advocate wasn’t present as he had some very urgent work. But the very first thing I was asked to do was to fill and sign the entry pass without which there is no entry in the Supreme Court’s room.

Main tasks

Some clerical work.

Reading and understanding the ongoing cases.

Hearing court proceedings.

Checking the upcoming dates of the cases from the website etc.

Work environment and people

Work environment was very good. They had fixed time for everything.

All the people in the chamber or at the office work place were very helpful.

Best things

Hearing of court proceedings and clearing of doubts if any.

Bad things

Sometimes things were not able at the backside of the court and we couldn’t make out what exactly the matter was about.

Stipend

No stipend

Biggest Lessons

Interning at Supreme court is not for first year learners because people are very busy there and cannot help as much as they want to because of the less experience and knowledge the students have in the first year. I would suggest first intern at Civil court and some NGO and then move to High Court and Supreme Court.
