Duration of internship and timings
June – July 2016.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
I was asked to reach court by 9:30 in the morning on the first day by Ajay Sir. When I reached there Sir was preparing for his hearings.
He handled me a file of the case which contained all the details of the case and asked one of his junior to give a brief of the case to me because after half hour I was going to attend the courtroom proceedings with sir.
The main task were the reading of the cases and attending proceedings. I was told to come daily to the court at 9:30 in the morning and remain there with sir till 12:30 or 1.
Along with this 3 times in a week, Sir told me to visit his office at home where I use to prepare case reports and read all the present cases which were related to murder, sexual assault, property issues etc.
Work environment and people
The working environment at the chambers of sir was very friendly and helpful. Sir helped me a lot in understanding proceedings, court procedures and other formalities. Juniors and other members who were also learning under sir were helpful and explained me everything in detail.
This internship for me was the best platform for learning courtroom proceedings and court manners. The timings were very flexible and sir was lenient with me. I learned many things because sir was not strict and I was able to ask even my small doubts easily.
No bad things.
This was my best internship among all because I learned all the basics which a practicing lawyer should know. I will recommend all the first and second years who want to learn the basic things, must intern under his assistance.
I stayed in a hostel in MP Nagar Zone II Bhopal. Many hostels are available there and District Court if at a distance of 10 mins from hostel.
From 9:30 AM till 12:30 AM. The timings were flexible and sir was not very strict in nature related to timings.
