Go through your college’s internship committee. But you can nevertheless apply on your own.
The response to your application will be quick if there is vacancy. But once he has chosen you be assured that he has seen your CV.
Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings
4 weeks.6 days/week. Timings are 9.00 AM to 7 PM. Varies from day to day according to the work given to you on that particular day or the previous day. In May the court has a summer break so plan accordingly.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
As Bangalore has loads of people interning in the month of May-June, it’s easy to find a PG and sharing it with people whom you know. Nothing is too far in Bangalore with the buses and autos running for your convenience. But be assured you are going to be spending a lot as Bangalore is a costly place.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
People are very kind and helpful, with very basic formalities. There is nothing to fear or be nervous about. The partner calls you in and asks you about your subjects in college.
He will brief you about the requirements of the firm and will tell you what you will have to do during the whole month. Certain etiquettes have to be always remembered.
Main tasks (in detail)
Main tasks involved researching and reading the cases for the next day. The associates sometimes delegate you their work and is much appreciated if done well. The research is then shown to the partner if it meets the requirement.
The library of the firm is not so huge with some computers but you can carry your own laptop to work and can ask for the Manupatra and other research databases password from the associates.
In the last week of your internship a presentation has to be given which is attended by everyone in the firm. A report of all what you did in the month has to be submitted on the last day of your internship.
Work environment, people
Work environment was highly chilled. Everyone in the firm was very friendly. They know your name. They help you throughout. Work was given on the very first day.
You even get to accompany the partner to the court. The best part being that he will take you in his own car and there will be an after case lunch or snacks at a nearby restaurant.
The best thing is the flexible timings and the cheap food available nearby.
Sadly you won’t receive any stipend at all. But this should not be a factor that holds you back, as lots of knowledge can be obtained.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
There were 4-5 internees and it was a party time outside the firm. Localities would keep referring to the places one could go in Bangalore. If you a party person then Bangalore is the place for you.
There are lots and lots of places where you can go. You can even have a long trip outside Bangalore on weekends.(2nd Saturday is a half day)
Anything else you’d like to tell
If you work hard enough you can get a recommendation letter and if an impression is formed, it can also be helpful for future internships.
Changes your impression about the system enormously. You start rethinking about litigation.
