I applied for 4 weeks. The office is open and working 6 days a week with second Saturday’s off.
The timings are 9:00 am to 7:00 pm from Monday to Friday and 10 am to 5 pm every Saturday.
They are quite strict about attendance and timings. So you are expected to be at the office latest by 9:30 am.
You can leave as soon as the HR leaves which is generally by 7 pm. The schedule is quite taxing with only an hour for the lunch break.
I applied on their website. One is supposed to apply at least 3 months prior to the date one wishes to intern from.
First impression, first day, break the hindrances
My first day at K.N. Mini was quite tiring. I arrived in the office at 9:00 am sharp. HR called me inside her cubicle and asked me my subjects of interests and then asked one of the peons to show me around the office.
The Office strength would be approximately 75-85 including the support staff. However, don’t be intimidated, you will know everyone in 2 days.
They come and introduce themselves to you on the first day. There are 15 Paralegals/Interns which include Articled Clerks who intend to appear for the Solicitor’s and judiciary Exams.
The Office formalities are normal and expected – the formal dress code has to be followed (black and white for litigation teams) however it is relaxed on Saturdays and you can wear jeans and semi formals.
I had filled in my subjects of interest as IPR and Company Laws so I was allotted work accordingly. I was asked to research, look for judgments, write case notes, read files and brief the concerned associate.
I was also given a lot of work on Scams relating to the share market which was quite interesting. I also kept a tab on all the latest reforms in share market and the watchdog i.e. SEBI.
Besides assisting in drafting notices, letters and synopsis, I also got an exemplary chance to assist in the drafting of Petitions, Suits, Applications etc.
As as intern, you get a chance to draft, summarise, inspect and modify agreements. Besides there’s always due diligence!
The work environment at MV Kini was quite friendly. The Associates were very helpful. They would not just assign you work but also take the pain of explaining the whole case to you in detail and they would entertain all your doubts.
The Cafeteria staff and the receptionist are well versed with the entire functioning of the office and the needs of interns. The seniors I had were not only motivated, polite and friendly but also extremely understanding of the tasks allotted to me and always understood if I could not do anything.
Best things and Bad things
The best thing about the office were definitely the “Associates” and the “Web resources”. Interning at MV Kini and Co. makes you learn a lot primarily because the attitude of the associates towards you is very friendly
Everything is awesome except the clerical work at times- which can be boring. It comes with every internship though.
There is so much to eat at the MV Kini office, always. Besides places like Starbucks, coffee House are one minute walk from office. There are tons of places you can order from and some local places with delicious food which can be ordered to office. The Cafeteria is the perfect place to chill.
I live in Delhi so the accommodation was not an issue for me. But for those students who are not residents of Delhi the office is quite centrally located and there are a number of reasonably priced PG accommodations aroun
