Application procedure? Internship Contact Details:
I got contact details in “Lawctopus” itself.
I make a call to office about a month earlier, after getting direction to applying I mailed my CV with application form and recommendation letter by college. I got reply mail of confirmation within a week for internship in July.
Days of work per week. Timing:
The internship was three-weeks long; beginning on a Monday and terminating on a Friday. We were to report officially at 10.30, and could leave at 5.30. Mondays to Fridays were working days.
Without any formality there was a discipline in all member of office.
First impression, first day, formalities:
I visited my office a day earlier from outside so I reached office at 10 AM easily on 1st day and reported. From reception I send back as I was not in formal dress. I was wear jeans and sport shoes.
Then I learn to always in formals in any office.
I arrange my Black shoe that day and go to office next day. From then I go office regularly. But my first impression was not good as expected. I feel very guilty about it. Subsequent day was my first day. I was given a PC with internet connection and tell about all rules to be follows as intern. Everyone was very friendly so my fear vanished to very friendly with all.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
I stayed with my friend who is an employee in textile mill. I stayed in Malad of Western line which is about 30 km from office. I gone through Mumbai Local From Malad to Churchgate in Heavy Crowd.
Where I stay was not in posh area but manageable for simple living. Having place of living in Mumbai is a great task for me.
I found LEA more interesting beyond expectation. One would think that, for a top ranking firm, independence to intern and associates is most binding feature. I given task but never ask method which I adopt to do that. That is most liking fact about my firm. I was directed to make project on certain topic related to facts.
I made case reading online related to facts in issue of case which assign to us. In 3-4 days we deal with a case and make report based on fact in issue of a case in support of our associates.
We submit this report to our senior. Each day we did our work and had a lunch in afternoon in evening we have tea also about at 3:30 PM.
Work environment, people:
Everyone, starting from the co-interns, including the clerks and associates, and even the Partners, were civil and not at all rude.
All co-interns were very helpful and friendly. Our senior partner were also very helpful & direct us whenever required. We enjoyed a lot during Lunch & tea break in evening and learn also from senior partners. They share their experience during their college days and their internship.
The best things and the bad things:
Best thing I learn that I first time realize that I am is a part of an Association, I can perform and help someone. It give me self confidence that our work is reliable for someone and somebody is noticing my work. This internship show my existence in the field of Law.
Bad thing is not from part of office but I lost my wallet in last day while travelling in Mumbai Local. Perhaps it was my mistake by which I lost my some important document but thank God I keep some money outside so I manage to reach my room safely.
Interns are not paid during internship.
What this internship teaches us:
I am from a village and my college is also not in posh area. To be in city like Mumbai is really a surprise for me. I applied for internship to be in life of a metro city and I think Mumbai is the height.
In class we think to top among 60 but when you travel in Mumbai Local you must think to top among count-less. This give a extra power to work and concentrate in our work.
Life style of Mumbai teaches me the value of a work-less man and an working man.
Mumbai also make me to dream larger as it is “ City Of Dreams”.
