I procured this internship by sending an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Pursuant to which I had a telephonic interview with one of the associate of the firm. Thereafter within a week I received a confirmation e-mail on their behalf.
9.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.
However, exit time may stretch to an extra one or two hour depending upon the work load.
First Impression, First Day Formalities, Infrastructure
The very first impression that one gets stepping into the firm is of Elegance and Professionalism, from reception to desk, everything is organized and well structured. All the employees ensure a professional code of conduct, yet being very accommodating and friendly.
On my first day, I was shown my desk, which had a fixed computer. So one does not need to carry his/her laptop and I was provided with an ARA LAW note pad and a separate water bottle.
Then I was introduced to all the associates and was briefed about the office structure and culture.
The infrastructure is an add-on to the firm as it is extremely fancy and modish. Situated in The Capital which is one of the premier spaces of BKC, the office has all the modern amenities required in a firm.
ARA Law specializes in core Corporate Laws, M&A, Private Equity, Real Estate, Capital Markets, Infrastructure and Baking Laws. The main tasks assigned to me in the office were legal research, drafting discussion notes, preparing legal articles, updating monthly newsletters, proof reading of documents and preparing memos.
Main area of my work was in Alternate Investment Funds, Mutual Funds, Private Equity, Company Law Provisions, etc.
I was also assigned a topic for presentation which I presented before all the associates (even the associates from the Bangalore office) on the last day of my internship.
Work Environment and People
The firm has a professional atmosphere and interns are expected to give quality work within stipulated deadlines. Interns contribution is highly valued and is given due importance. Interns can anytime approach the associates for clearing their doubts and for having a discussion on the same.
The associates are friendly, delegate their work to interns so that every intern is preoccupied with work and explain the mistake committed if any. Even the Office staff is highly accommodating and helpful.
Another novel practice is that of holding weekly presentations. Each associate presents on a specific topic, which is actually quite interesting and informative.
Not even a single day went by without having a task in hand! Enough work is assigned to an intern to keep himself/herself occupied with work, with proper discussions and feedback mechanism for the same.
Evening Snacks for all the employees including interns!
There isn’t anything bad that I could find about ARA LAW, just that sometimes food and travel issues may crop up for a non-localite.
