However one may have to stay longer depending on their work.

First Impression, First Day Formalities, Infrastructure

On my first day, since I reached before time, I was shown my desk where each intern is given a separate space to sit in.

Introduction was done with all the associates and co-interns and office was shown around. Rules and Regulations were told. I was provided with a separate working desk and computer along with ARA Law notepad.

The office is very fancy, equipped with all the tech facilities that one may need.

Main Task

It is a boutique firm and their areas of specialization are PE/VC, Mergers and Acquisitions etc.

I however got to work on IP and Competitions law areas as well, which was a good experience.

I got to work on drafting, updating a lot of memos for the firm and was also entrusted with research pertaining to queries put forward by the clients which was very interesting.

It also felt very encouraging as you feel really involved with the working of the firm.

Work Environment and People

The firm has a professional attitude towards work and interns are expected to meet the deadlines of the work which is given to them.

Everyone, right from the Managing Partner to the associates makes a lot of time for the interns and it is ensured by the firm that one has an enriching experience out of this internship.

The Managing Partner personally takes a lot of interest in the interns and takes regular feedbacks from them regarding the work allotted to them. It is ensured that no one sits idle at the firm.

The mentor system is also a good policy of the firm as one learns a lot by working directly under a very senior person of the firm.

Because of the small size of the firm there is a lot of individual attention that is given.

At the end of the internship one has to make a presentation, which is taken very seriously as both the offices of the firm; Mumbai and Bangalore, attend to it and people really look upto the topic that you take up for the presentation for contributing towards their knowledge management.

Best Things

The assignments given are expected to be done on time and later the feedback is given on the work.

The associates are a very encouraging by nature, provided one is sincere with their work.

It’s a very professional environment where one can learn a lot if they are willing to accept the responsibility given.

Bad Things

There isn’t anything bad thing about ARA Law.
