Duration of internship and timings
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First things first, talking about the infrastructure, Amit Sethi & Associates has a very light and efficient working structure. Amit Sethi & Associates is located at 1st floor and at the centre of Connaught Place. Its located at Atma Ram Mansion (Scindia House), one of the famous buildings in CP.
The office is made in a fancy manner providing all the necessary Law Books to the interns. The workplace is well furnished with all the basic amenities starting from Washrooms to a small kitchen area.
On the first day of the internship the students were made to sit together and were given a brief about how the internship would follow. All the mentors were benevolent in nature. They were both inspiring as well as amicable. Then we were all asked about our previous internship experiences.
First day of any internship is a mind boggling task as you’re opening a new chapter of your life and meeting new people. All the tedious work begins. It’s a doodle if you’re interning with your friend.
My main task was to help all my lawyers in their research work and to gain as much as experience as I can. I went through the ongoing cases of my mentors.Their cases were in regard of civil matters with respect to Corporate law, Indian Contract Act.,etc.
Visiting the courts was a part of internship. Court visits were an interesting part of my internship. The atmosphere and the experience one gets by witnessing the procedure of the court is unbeatable.
We were as interns at times asked to pass over the matters and get to ask the next dates of the matters. I discovered many court rooms and tried to embrace the working of the court system.
Work environment and people
The work environment was pleasurable. The associates were friendly and smart. They would regularly come to you and chit chat with you and give you work. There was a dining table where all associates and interns used to lunch together.
All the three mentors were from different age groups which helped us( me and my friend) in learning more from them. There was a youngest Sir, with whom we could about anything since he was still learning himself.
1. The associates were very candid about relevant case details. I managed to get real deep into many of the case files and case proceedings. The associates were helpful about everything.
2. I was allowed to take leave whenever there was an urgency for it. Prior knowledge to the Sir and you can easily get a day off when needful.
3. A lot of practical knowledge was given by our Sir, and daily experiences were discussed.
4. You get to intern at a place like CP. Sneaking out to have all the good food was easily possible. Perks of interning at CP.
There were not much bad things with the internship. I often felt a little bored with the court proceedings since its slow and tedious, but then I realised that ‘nothing having worth comes easy’. You need to conquer every pain to gain something.
Never say NO to anything that comes in your way, even if it is the most easy or the most hard thing in your life.
Nothing having worth comes easy – The biggest lesson learnt through my internship.
Life is full of challenges and the one’s who conquer them each day becomes the ultimate winner. So kick start your each day and become your own model. Make good public relations and get to act professionally.
PS: Always be well dressed in the legal field. Because we become what we look like!
Well, I reside in Delhi only. So no PG’s for me. But the office being in CP, you can easily get many accommodations with a little knowledge of the area.
Well the office timings were not strict except for the days of court visits, because a Lawyer can never be late for his/her matters.During court visits we have to be reaching the court sharp at 9 in the morning.
Otherwise on other days one can report to the office around 10.30 in the morning and leave the office around 6 in the evening.
