Internship@ Amarjit & Associates, New Delhi: Good IPR Internship, Friendly Environment, No Stipend

Name, College and year

Mansi Dua, Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, Third year.

Name of the firm and city

Amarjit and Associates, Pusa Road, New Delhi.

Duration of internship

4 weeks.

How big was the office? Team strength

Not too small and not too big. It is just right! Only two associates were there.

Application procedure. Internship contact details

I applied through a reference contact. But one can email them directly.

The email address is given on their website- they usually respond quickly.

Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings

6 days a week. We had to reach the High Court of Delhi at 10 o clock everyday. Then after the hearings got over, we used to head to the office at Pusa Road. That used to be the routine everyday for the whole duration of the internship.

Since I am a Delhite, I used to commute daily from my house.

First impression. First day, formalities etc.

My first day was a bit dull since everybody at the office is extremely busy and you have to get up and do stuff on your own. You have to reach out to the associates and partners and ask for work. Though everybody is extremely nice and friendly so its not as difficult as it sounds.

Its actually quite interesting because that way they get to know how interested you are in working and learning. That would just impress everyone around and you would end up having best work ever.

Main tasks

We had to go to the High Court everyday and in a day or two we got the hang of what was going on in the office.

I got involved with all the on-going hearings that were to take place the next day. I used to help the associates and the partners as well for the work.

The best part was since there were only two associates, I got to do the same work as they did. That was a great learning experience.

Bad things

Since the office is small, it’s doesn’t have all the usual amenities like coffee machines, cafeteria or anything. You can get food from outside and they serve it to you.

All in all it was a good, work oriented experience.

What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues

The Karol Bagh market is just there at walking distance. Best part was Karim’s, which was right there next door. My co-interns were friendly and nice and so were the colleagues. Even the staff help was very helpful and sweet.
