Duration of Internship and timings

One week is enough in Mediation center. I have done from 10 June 2016 to 17 June 2016.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On the first day of my internship I reached the mediation centre at the assigned time I got to know that I would be interning with nine more law students, who are from different law college and some of them were my class 12 batch mates and was surprised to meet them and some are from different cities.

We were addressed by the head of the mediation centre, Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh who gave us a brief insight into the history of mediation and also answered our queries patiently.

He parted by wishing us good luck and instructed us to be present at the centre at 11 am from the next day.

Main tasks

The main task over there was we were assigned different court room where we have to sit and see and analysis the case there were generally matrimonial cases come up and we have to see and write the brief history about the case and have to tell whether mediation failed is not and we have to write.

The mediators were two lawyers of the High Court and they commenced the session by stating that the option of mediation was optional and confidential.

The wife claimed that the husband used to beat her and had abandoned her when she was carrying their baby and she did not want to reconcile with him whereas the husband wanted to unite with her.

The lady seemed adamant but after being explained by the mediators about how her divorce could affect their baby and its growth she agreed to re-think about her decision.

The husband who was regretful about his behavior also thanked the mediators and the next session date was decided.

The mediation centre not only reduces the work of the court, it also gives people a platform to speak their hearts out and redress their grievances since it is a confidential process.

The parties amicably sort out their issues and the mediators just assist them and since the parties themselves solve the issue, the terms of settlement are acceptable to the parties.

Mediation helps the parties realize the underlying issues of their dispute and results in a win-win situation for all parties involved. It is a cheaper, effective and amicable way of solving disputes.

Work environment and people

The Mediation and Conciliation center is silent and witnessed no disturbance during the proceedings.

Also, there was no pressure on the parties, interns and the advocates as well.

Working Environment was very friendly.

Best things

According to me in person every one i.e. every youth should attend the mediation internship before marriage because the issues that came up was so minor that it can be resolved but due to lack of understanding the confusion occurs and which need to be mend by talking and conversion only and I think that mediation center provide opportunity to the couples to mend and bridge the gap that occurred in there relationship.

Bad things

The cases don’t end in one hearing some parties were given next date but the period is just 1 week which is too short to learn any thing.

No stipend

Biggest Lessons

There is a lot of difference between the knowledge we acquire inside the four walls of a classroom and the knowledge we gain outside the classroom.

As a law student, one needs to be well-versed and skilled in practically applying the laws as well as knowing the laws.

At mediation center mediator were too patient and they have listened every one very calmly.

Any Other Thing

One must do internship here as one can learn lots. Best place for internship.

I live in Allahabad to I stayed at my home. The AHCMCC provides no accommodation for the interns.

Office Timings
