Main Tasks and Experience
The office is a spacious one and located in a peaceful place in Jangpura Extension. The office space is shared by two practising lawyers-Amit Agrawal and Satyajit Sarna.
While I did not work under Mr. Sarna, I found him to be a very cheerful person, and quite approachable.
The office handles civil and commercial matters including arbitration. I was mainly involved in academic research, and assisted in updating parts of two books; one on the Companies Act, 2013 and another on the SEBI Act, 1992.
I was occasionally given litigation-related research in the area of company law.
My work at the office gave me an opportunity to learn about laws that were completely new to me, such as the SEBI regulations and the recently enacted Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.
The opportunities which I got at the office helped me hone my research and writing skills. Moreover, the constant feedback on my assignments that I received from Mr. Agrawal made me realize the depth of research and attentiveness to detail which are required in any book-writing assignment. For me, it was a great learning experience, and I got the chance to learn a lot under Mr. Agrawal.
Good Things
I found the work environment to be quite amicable and conducive to learning. Being a small office with five people working, there was adequate guidance given to interns, something which I feel is often lacking in a bigger organization.
Interns are taken seriously and involved in varied work. The place is ideal for a person who is genuinely interested in learning and growing academically and professionally.
With some very good food joints nearby, there is also no dearth of options to eat out. ‘Novelty’ which is famous for its sandwiches and coffee is located within a walking distance.
One can also go down to ‘Simple’ restaurant which serves various vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes; it is particularly liked for its chicken momos and honey chilli potatoes.
Apart from these, Subway and McDonalds are also located very close to the office.
With Jangpura metro station in the vicinity, the office has good metro connectivity as well.
Bad Things
None
Accommodation
Since I was already living in Delhi, I did not have to look for another accommodation. However, accommodation at a reasonable rate may be arranged in nearby areas such as Lajpat Nagar.
