Application Process
I applied directly to Vrinda Maam by mailing my CV and cover letter to her e-mail id- vrindagrover@gmail.com.
Duration of internship and timings
4 weeks, the timings were basically 10 am – 6 pm but, there was not any hard and fast rule regarding timings and we were allowed to leave if we were done with our work early.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First impression was mesmerising, I was pleasantly surprised with everything in the office, and excited about what next 4 weeks have in box for me, apart from me there were 5 more interns in the office.
Our senior was ratna mam and we were supposed to coordinate with her for our internship tasks.
On the first day, I was asked to fill in my details in their intern-register. The infrastructure was good, the office was good and spacious.
Main tasks
The main work that was assigned to me was research work and a bit of clerical work. As Vrinda Maam is a human right activist so the work that was assigned to me was RTI related- RTI applications that were filed in all the jails that are there in Chattisgarh.
The main query was to find out, what was the reason behind the death of the prisoner, what is the punishment given to them. Whether they were tortured or not, etc. Other than this I worked on the Muzafarpur Riots case.
Work environment and people
Work environment was good, the people there were good and cooperative.
Stipend
No stipend.
Biggest Lessons
Never go for easy thing, instead go for best.
