Institute of Law, Nirma University’s Lit Fest Connaissance 7.0 [19-21 August, Prize Money upto Rs. 3 Lakhs]: Registration Open

It gives us immense pleasure to announce the seventh edition of Connaissance, the annual inter-varsity literary and debating festival of Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad scheduled to be held from 19-21 August, 2016.

Into its seventh edition, the fest gets bigger this time with more events and a bigger prize kitty.

Prize Money

The total amount of prize money distributed last year stands at about a staggering three lakh rupees.

With an enviable pool of prize money and fabulous accommodation as always, we look forward to your visit to ‘Aapnu Amdavad’.

The list of events is as follows:

1. The 5th ILNU National Parliamentary Debate: The ILNU National Parliamentary Debate Competition will be an Asians style (3 on 3) Parliamentary Debate Competition.

Each round shall have 2 teams; the Government and the Opposition. A panel of odd number of adjudicators shall judge each round.

These adjudicators shall also be a part of the competition and shall be evaluated by the speakers on the basis of the adjudication review given by them.

– With Accommodation: Rs. 2000/-

– Without Accommodation: Rs 1000/-

2. The 2nd ILNU National Youth Parliament: The ILNU Youth Parliament simulates the parliamentary procedures and processes. Participants will be allotted constituencies and will be expected to indulge in meaningful debate and discussions regarding the agendas notified to them beforehand. The sessions are moderated and supervised by a chair and a deputy chair.

The participants have to prepare a draft bill which will be floated on the floor of the parliament and be voted upon by the fellow participants.

The agenda for Lok Sabha is ‘Discussion on “The Communal Violence (Prevention, Control and Rehabilitation of Victims) Bill, 2005’ and that for Rajya Sabha is ‘Deliberation for Reforms in the Contemporary Education System of India.’

3. Quizzes: As a part of Connaissance, the college would be hosting two quizzes- Armageddon (General quiz) & Bizakaze (Business Quiz). The quizzes will be hosted by a renowned quizmaster. There will be a preliminary round of 30 questions from which the top six teams make it to the finals. The top six teams will then battle it out among themselves for the honours.

4. Workshop by Terribly Tiny Tales

‘Terribly Tiny Tales’ is a pioneer organization in the field of micro writing and is especially popular on social media. The idea is to popularize a unique writing style which powerfully emotes with succinctness and brevity. ‘Terribly Tiny Tales’ will conduct a workshop wherein they will train interested writers to create a tweet sized story.

In addition to this, we have some surprise speaker sessions lined up to talk on poetry, literature and art.

Connaissance, with the view to encourage the arts, has organized an Art & Photography Exhibition. We would love to showcase your talent and photographic stories and invite you to send your paintings or photographs for the same.
