Name. College. Year of Study.
Puja Kumari, University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, III Year.
Name of the organization. City
Idea Cellular, Patna.
Duration of the internship. No. of days/week. Timings
The minimum duration is of 4 weeks and working days are Monday-Friday. But sometimes they might call you even on Saturday.
No fixed office time as such. I had to reach the office building by 10:00 am if I had to go by the book, but it could be extended and was allowed to leave office at around 5:00 pm.
But even if I got late sometimes it was no issue. Office timings are not strict at all. Still, you don’t want to make a habit out of turning up late after all impression matters.
How big was the office? Team strength?
The Idea Cellular office is in a 5-storey building. The first floor had the reception area, waiting hall, conference rooms- all named after different Scientists. The office was quite big and very well maintained and has very good infrastructure facility.
Team Strength: 10
Application procedure. Internship contact details
They normally do not take interns in law but I applied through personal contact so was able to get it arranged.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
As far as the matter of accommodation is concerned, you need to make your own arrangements for the same.
Idea cellular is located in Boring Road and you can easily get PG around the office.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
On your first day at office, I was first introduced with the HR manager of company and he introduce me with the circle legal head and thereafter I was assigned to the team of well qualified and very friendly associates to work.
Initially I was given around 500 distributorship agreements and was asked to arrange them. It was really very boring and tedious work.
But later it was nice to have interactive session with the circle legal head of Idea Cellular as he was a really nice and he use to manage to take out sometime out of his busy schedule to discuss the functioning of the legal department in telecom sector and sometime we even had discussion on contract law, Jurisprudence and some other areas as well.
I also had to prepare a project on any legal issue related to the telecom sector.
Work environment, people
I was afraid that the work environment will be very strict as I could see that everyone is so busy in his or her work. But to my utter surprise it was very friendly and pleasant. The legal associates were nice.
People are very nice and co-operative. There is no pressure as such and one can enjoy the work.
The Idea Cellular office, to me seemed a nice and beautiful place to work at.
The best thing would be the friendly nature of the associates who were very supportive and the food that they served during lunch was really awesome and that too free of cost.
Apart from this, it was really nice to interact with the circle legal head as the conversation added to my knowledge.
Some of the clerical work got really tedious, and believe me, most of the days there was no work and I had to literally beg for some work, the day didn’t seem to end.
Apart from this many times I had to wait for hours to meet the HR people or Legal head and it was a real wastage of time.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
Whenever I use to get free early I along with my co inter use to go to nearby mall and KFC.
Anything else you’d like to tell; Biggest lessons
Nothing as such.
