A public interest litigation (PIL) filed by two students of NLSIU, Kshitij Sharma and Abhishek Rao, has challenged the age limit imposed on law aspirants taking the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2015.

In its ‘Eligibility for CLAT 2015’ webpage here, CLAT authorities state: A candidate should be below 20 years of age as on 1st July, 2015 (22 years in case of SC/ST and Persons with Disability candidates, as prescribed by the respective Statutes of the participating Universities).

This age limit criteria was withdrawn for CLAT 2013 and was reintroduced for CLAT 2015.

The High Court issued notices to the CLAT convener and the Bar Council of India (BCI), seeking their replies by March 3.

The news was first reported in the Times of India here.
