About the Department 

This department is come under the ministry of law (govt. of M.P.) and have an important position and plays an important role in legal matters related of other administrative departments of the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

This department functions under the Madhya Pradesh Business (Allocation) Rules and other than this department plays a consultative role in many matters like framing/drafting of bills related to principal legislation and subordinate legislation, passing orders regarding appeals related to civil and criminal nature, appointments, agreement, deeds etc.

How Did You Apply? 

One has to go to the office with an application (concerning the Principal Secretary of the department) and a bonafide certificate issued by a college or university.

First Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

On the first day, they give a brief introduction about the department and its working procedure and they give a proper training schedule of 21 days. Overall a good infrastructure of the office and also cabins and sections are in a well-organised manner and also very neat and clean office.

Main Tasks

Basically, there are 8 sections in the department which is as follows:

  • Drafting
  • Vetting
  • Translation
  • Prosecution
  • Petition and Right to Information
  • Criminal
  • Civil
  • Judicial 

So, I have to go to each section as per the schedule and understand the working procedure of each section which is told by respective section officers and secretaries. They give files of bills, appeals, petitions, appointments and others for understanding the various procedures followed in the file and interacted with secretaries (basically Judges).

On the last day, you have to give a brief presentation about what you have learned in your internship duration.

Work Environment

Overall a great work environment, sectional officers and secretaries and other staff are really helpful and they interact with you in a very kind manner.

Good Things

Interaction with secretaries (Judges) and they shared their experiences and knowledge. Also, section officers are very knowledgeable, they will clear all the doubts of the working procedure of the sections.

Bad Things

Nothing as such


No stipend

Accommodation, Commuting to Office

Department does not provide accommodation facilities to interns so you have to arrange yourself and no issue regarding transportation and also, Bhopal is my hometown so it was not a problem for me.
