Call for Research Papers: Global Journal for Socio-Legal Research: Submit by August 31

About the Organization

Global Journal of Socio-Legal Research (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Journal’) provides a discussion on new ideas, fresh insights, and expert views on critical practical issues faced across various jurisdictions. The content is contributed by the experts in field, practitioners and international students, and aims to provide a reliable source of guidance and discussion for the globalised world.

The Journal is a peer-reviewed half-yearly international journal under with a diverse editorial board. As mentioned above, the aim of the journal is to address contemporary socio-legal issues and will act as a source of information for further development of jurisprudence.

The Journal is being published under the aegis and guidance of Niti Manthan.

Theme

The October 2020 edition of the journal concentrates on the growing issues of ‘Data privacy and data security’. This comes in the background where globally concerns have been raised with respect to data mining, collection of data, and data impacting the security and stability of various developing countries.

The following are some of the sub-themes which will guide the acceptance of articles for this edition of the journal, namely:

  • Data as the new oil of the economy
  • Data mining and sociological impact on society
  • Data leading the way for a new tomorrow
  • Best practices in data security and privacy
  • Psychological impact of breach of privacy
  • Data privacy as part of the fundamental human right
  • Data security and privacy concerns in legal fields
  • Data security and privacy in cloud computing
  • Privacy in the digital age
  • Big data security and privacy protection
  • Data privacy in the healthcare industry
  • Data security and privacy in online court and other dispute settlement mechanism
  • Smart cities and rising concern of data security and privacy
  • Illegal mining of data and their evidentiary value
  • Data security and privacy in the online marketing system
  • Data security and rising concerns of state security
  • Stakeholder analysis of data security and privacy

It is to be noted that the above-mentioned sub-themes are for the guidance purpose only. The authors are free to choose the ambit and scope of the paper in the background of the main theme.

Deadline

Manuscripts must be submitted to the link available on the website till 31st August 2020.

The submission link for the 2020 Fall Edition will be available from August 10, 2020. It is to be noted that no submissions beyond the date mentioned below will be accepted.

Who can Submit?

Faculty members, research scholars, working professionals and senior students are eligible to submit their papers. Nationality is no bar for submission.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Co-Authorship: The co-authorship is permitted to a maximum of two authors.
  2. Title: An article title should be concise, with a maximum of 70 characters.
  3. Abstract: The abstract will appear along with the title ion the website. The abstract must be a short summary of about 200 words.
  4. Keywords: The author can give up to 10 keywords for the ease of reference to the reader. This will further boost the search engine optimisation (SEO) of your article.
  5. Biography: A brief biographical note, include both the current affiliation as well as the email address of the author(s), should be provided in the first footnote of the manuscript.
  6. Word Limit: The manuscripts must not be less than 3,000 words and should not exceed 5,000 words. The word limit is exclusive of the citation and other references.
  7. Language: Only articles in English will be considered for publication. Manuscripts should be written in standard English while using ‘ise’ and ‘isation’ instead of ‘ize’ and ‘ization’. The preferred reference source is the Oxford English Dictionary. However, in the case of quotations, the original spelling should be maintained.
  8. Manuscripts will be returned to the author if the language is below standard.
  9. Heading: Heading levels must be clearly indicated.
  10. Tables: The tables and illustrations must be self-explanatory and their content should not be repeated in the text. Refrain from tabulation unnecessarily. They must be numbered and must be included in concise titles.
  11. Figures and Illustrations: These should be submitted as separate files along with the manuscript, and it is very important that they are high quality: .tif or .jpg files with a resolution of at least 600 dpi.
  12. Submitted manuscripts are understood to be final versions. They must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  13. Format: Manuscripts must be submitted electronically, in Word Format, via website link mentioned above.
  14. Time Zone: The timeline mentioned will be as per the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
  15. Publication fee: There is no fee for publication

Quotations, footnotes and references

  • All citations and quotations must be verified before submission of the manuscript. The accuracy of the contribution is the responsibility of the author. The journal has adopted the most recent version of ‘Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA)’ legal citation style to ensure uniformity.
  • Citations should not appear in the text but in the footnotes.
  • Footnotes should be number consecutively, using the footnote function in Word so that if any footnotes are added or deleted the others are automatically renumbered.
