About Human Dignity International

Human Dignity International is an organisation which was created to bring to life Late Prof. (Dr.) S.R.S. Bedi’s vision of disseminating knowledge about the concept of Human Dignity and promoting research in it.

We would also like to mention that the Centre’s activities are not restricted to the study of Human Dignity, but also broadly encompass the study of Public International Law.

Human Dignity International is pleased to announce ESCRITO ’12- 1st Prof. (Dr.) S.R.S. Bedi Memorial Essay Writing Competition on Public International Law.

The principle aim of organsing this event is to generate interest in concept of Human Dignity in the legal circle and create a resource base at the same time.

The Jury for the essay competition has been decided and it comprises of:

Prof. (Dr.) Frank Fleerackers serves as the Commissioner at the High Council of Justice. He is also a Professor of Law at the KU Brussels University- HUB, Belgium.

Prof. Y.S.R. Murthy serves as the Registrar of the O.P. Jindal Global University, India.

Prof. Manoj Kumar Sinha is presently the Professor of Human Rights Refugee Law at West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.

Prof. Kathleen E. Mahoney serves as a Professor of Law at the University of Calgary in Canada.

Dr. Surinder Shukla is the Honorary Director of ICSSR North-Western Region at Punjab University, India.

Also, Cash Prizes worth 30,000 INR have been allocated for the competition in the following manner:

1st Prize: 15,000 INR

2nd Prize: 10,000 INR

3rd Prize: 5,000 INR

  • Submission must not exceed 3500 words (exclusive of footnotes).
  • Violation of the word limit will result in a penalty of 1 marks per 50 words exceeded.
  • The essay must include references in the form of footnotes. The Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) should be followed for the citations.

Last Date of Registration- 18th November 2012
Last Date for Submission- 1st December 2012
