So on the gloomy, boring evening of my exam week and I wanted a break from studying family law so I like a good law student I utilized my time and applied to few law firms which were in my mind through email.
I came to know about Corporate and Legal through Lawctopus itself. I stalk the site thrice a day!
HOW TO APPLY
So since this firm provided what I wanted so I applied here.
You can mail your CV on [email protected]
I got an instant reply from them in 2 weeks and I was called for an introductory session with other interns but the day we got there sir left for an urgent meeting and so I met him on my second day of internship.
On the First day I was very excited because this was the first time I was interning at a law firm. I reached there at 10 and since sir was not in Delhi, so one of the clerks gave me case files to read.
Then on second day I finally met him and we had a brief introduction session followed by some more case files to be read and some research work .
On the second day itself I met ma’am and we had a small introduction session followed by some more research work.
Office is in a basement and is near central Lajpat nagar . One can walk from the nearest metro station i.e Lajpat Nagar to the office .
I got my own place to work with access to internet at all times for the research work. They have Lawpack subscription which makes the research work easy and saves time.
If you ever plan to intern here then you should have two main objectives to intern here:
- LOADS OF REASEARCH WORK
- COURT HEARINGS
Since this was my first law firm experience and I am a second year law student for me all the work provided here was very beneficiary and I gained a lot from this internship.
They would ask us look for case laws, drafting work, write-ups on important legal issues etc.
Some days were very hectic and some days were like it was tough to sit and do nothing so you could always pick up a book from there small library and read it.
Lots of commentaries were available for research work.
Since there weren’t many people in office so it was a pleasant time interning there.
Both ma’am and sir were helpful and were very concerned with the fact that we always had the best learning experience and made sure that we had our lunch on time and were particular about time we came and left.
Free coffee and tea breaks always pepped us up and we worked better!
For me it was that I came to attend many court hearings, sometimes even take a Passover and the quality and quantity of research work that I did was very beneficial and taught me a lot.
I even learned drafting which was a completely new experience for me.
Sometimes there was nothing to do for the entire day.
Hard work never goes waste.
If you actually work then it shows and gets appreciated.
One can live in Lajpat Nagar as many options are available over there. Many PG’s and flat are available on rent.
Since I am a resident of Delhi I commuted by metro.
I really had a very pleasant time interning and honestly I wanted to work full time there but since that is not option available to me right now as I am still a second year student, but one thing that this internship made crystal clear for me is that I want to work in corporate sector and I certainly look forward to work with people who spread knowledge and inspire youth.
This entry has been submitted for the LexisNexis-Lawctopus Internship Experience Writing Competition 2015-2016. iPleaders is the learning partner for this competition.
