Conference on Criminal Jurisprudence @ KES Shri Jayantilal H. Patel Law College, Mumbai [April 16]: Apply by April 5

The Kandivli Education Society was founded in the year 1936, a pioneer Educational Trust in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai city, imparting education for more than eight decades.

The Kandivli Education Society, with the approval from the University of Mumbai and Bar Council of India, was established as KES law college in 2012.

Every society confronts the problem of criminality. Crime exists in every society and, the fact is, it cannot be eradicated completely.

Therefore, criminal law is essential for the maintenance of law and order. The criminal law of a State is a reflection of its social norms, freedoms, rights, sense of duty and contemporary social consciousness.

The yardstick to measure the efficacy of the criminal justice system rests on the protection of the rights of the individuals against the criminals and lawbreakers.

By providing punishments to the lawbreakers and creating a deterrent effect in the minds of prospective offenders, criminal law attempts to maintain the rule of law in the state.

The agencies of the state have a significant role to play in the enforcement of the individual rights against the wrongdoers.

However, it is often observed that the laws in statutes and in execution are seldom the same! Hence it raises an alarm about the lacunas and deficiencies in the system which results in derecognition and violation of the rights of the individuals.

Thus, the conference aims at studying and analyzing

  • the role of various authorities, namely, legislature, judiciary, and the executive especially the police, NGOs etc. in the administration of the criminal justice system.
  • the changed pattern of commission and investigation of crime in the present era of technological advancements.
