How To Apply?

The internship was uploaded on a website called Internshala, I sent my application and C.V. through the website and after an interview through video conferencing with both partners, I got selected for the internship.

The global pandemic has created alot of chaos, and it has not been the most ideal situation for students, luckily on being selected with clergy wisemen, I finally got a chance to work in-office with other interns in person. They followed strict guidelines of Covid-19 and made sure that everyone was reaching homes safely. The office was a holy place for any law students, with the best books, commentaries, bare Acts and a lot of coffee. The office also had a studio for recording lectures online and one conference room with two other working spaces along with the basic amenities provided.

The Firm

Clergy & wisemen is a brain child of two, founding partners who are first generation advocates. The firm’s work is dynamic, it engages in all the areas of law. During the course of my internship, I worked with the most talented and creative people and got a chance to have a hand-on experience. I didn’t realize how much of an impact and growth I would see within my skills, it has been one of the best experiences I have ever gotten.

As an initial 3rd year student, responsibilities range from document research, drafting legal documents, asserting with court hearings, and discussing various legal strategies to complete assigned tasks. All the interns worked directly under one of the partners, Advocate Prateek

Lakra, who not only assigned the work but also taught and helped in every step of the process of any task given.

During my maiden days I was given research work on Arms Act, Drafting a Protest Petition, Studying & Analyzing a Medico Legal Report and Drafting a Particular part of a plaint Drafting legal notices, lease agreements, custody applications, trademark applications, protest petitions are a few of many tasks I was further assigned as well as taught. I was given a chance to real-world experience which goes way beyond the bare act and text books. During the brief time that i spent at the office i realized the importance of professionalism and even more the valuable and extensive procedure that goes behind the work.

Work Environment

The particular level of interest taken in interns has turned out to be a most serendipitous encounter to me. The motive of the internship was to learn and grow and the partners of the firm always encouraged the interns to think outside the box and try to break the average bubble. We also had in – office parliamentary debates on Saturdays which was one of the best highlights of my internship.

The one month I spent working with Clergy & wisemen; an amazing startup law firm, I have gained a whole new perspective and being able to be in the office and have the team guide me throughout the cases has made my skills and outlook on law completely change. To be able to experience the real hard work that goes down has been life altering. I personally recommend each and every law student to have this experience and, I wish everyone gets a chance to work with an amazing firm as Clergy & wisemen.
