CLAT 2013 Will See Nearly 30,000 Aspirants; NLUD Continues Self-Ostracization; LSAT India Offers Alternatives

29,530 Law Aspirants to Sit for CLAT 2013

CLAT 2013 will see nearly 30,000 aspirants fight it out for a seat in one of the 14 National Law Universities: NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad, NLIU Bhopal, NUJS Kolkata, NLU Jodhpur, HNLU Raipur, GNLU Gandhinagar, RMLNLU Lucknow, RGNUL Patiala, CNLU Patna, NUALS Kochi, NLUO Orissa, NUSRL Ranchi, and NLUJA Assam.

A total of 11,137 offline applications were received for CLAT (Undergraduate). (See here). The number of online applicants is 18,393. (See here). This brings the total number of law aspirants for CLAT 2013 to 29,530!

For the Post-graduate CLAT 642 students applied offline (See here) while 743 students applied online (See here). 1385 students will be thus applying for the newly introduced one year LLM course.

CLAT 2013 will be conducted on May 12, 2013 while the results are expected to be out by May 31.

NLU Delhi, a self-ostracised National Law School as far as entrance tests go, conducts it’s own entrance test, AILET. This year’s AILET will be conducted on April 28 in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Noida and Patna.

Compared to this (16 locations), CLAT 2013 will be held across 20 centers in India.

LSAT India, which is conducted jointly by some of the best private law colleges in India viz. JGLS, Sonipat; MATS, Raipur; KLE, Bangalore and others will be held on May 19 across 15 cities.
