Do not forget to submit recommendation letter from college.
Duration of internship and timings
June 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
So the office doesn’t really look like one. As you enter, you can see a lot of other interns sitting with files and trying to figure out what does the word mean! Because the files are in Hindi.
They brief about everything, you go collect the file and start making case reports.
Main tasks
We were only supposed to make case reports and read the Human Rights Protection Act.
On the last day, you have to submit a file containing 10 case reports and a bit about Human Rights and the organisation.
If you are lucky, you get to attend the evidence taking session.
Work environment and people
The office members were really friendly and helpful. Mr Harish, the Law Minister is very kind, funny and a person with vast knowledge.
Mr Bhatt, Deputy Chairperson, a very interactive, social and a person of jolly nature. You don’t have to think twice before asking them any doubts.
Best things
The briefings with the Heads is once in a lifetime experience.
They don’t only talk about Human Rights, they share their experience and discuss other fields of law.
Bad things
It becomes monotonous after few days as all you have to do is read cases in Hindi and make report in English.
Stipend
No stipend
Biggest Lessons
How Human Rights are violated at every step but due to the restrictions posed by law, these commissions and all can not really go out the way to help them.
You know, you not only expand the horizon of your knowledge on Human Rights, you end up understanding the problems faced by common, illiterate people daily.
Accommodation
I have my home in Raipur but there are options available nearby.
Office Timings
11-2:30. No one scolds you for coming late, but you do have to face the bad look from the Manager.
