First impression, first day, formalities
Bhopal, District and session court is the biggest Trial court in Asia.
The office of Choudhary sir is situated near Habibganj Railway station, it is very big is more like a library. They Mostly Handles criminal cases and sometimes civil also.
There were no formalities as everything was finalized through telephonic conversations that took place after his acceptance.
On the very first day I was asked to select the judgements of the SC that can be applicable in a given case.
Main tasks
They will give you cases to read, research on some critical issues relating to the case.
The important thing was observation. Observation of court proceedings, hearings, arguments.
They gave me the cases, the trial of which was to be conducted that day and then after reading those cases, I used to proceed with them to the court for listening the arguments and pleadings.
I was also given research work relating to environmental matters which are filled in National Green Tribunal by them and civil & criminal matters.
They also gave the work of drafting, recommendation letter and in certain matter they dictate which we have to type on MS word.
Research topics
Criminal and civil law, environmental law, personal law, cyber law, evidence law and labour law.
Work environment, people
Every one is friendly and ready to give you knowledge. you can ask anything without any hesitation with the junior.
But, if you don’t meet deadlines, they won’t appreciate it.
The best things AND the bad things
Good thing is that you will get a good learning environment.
There are around 7-8 juniors working under him, so flow of knowledge is continuous.
They will all teach, motivate and criticize in healthy manner which helps you in your learning process and is fruitful for future endeavors.
But since already many juniors are working under him, there is hardly any work delegated to interns. but generally interns are used to do work which they thinks fit.
Stipend/month
My stipend was 4000 but it is not fixed. It depends on the work ability of the internee and his or her capability.
Best thing
I got a job offer and also asked to work as a researcher till completion of my BA LLB (HONS.)
