Mitali Jain

S.M. Khirwadkar, District Court, Bhopal.

Team strength of about 5 people.

Application Process

Personally applied through a contact.

18th December, 2013 to 17th January, 2014

First Day

On the first day I met sir and on the very first day he made sure I was extremely comfortable.

All the associates are warm and helpful.

Also, sir is very flexible with timings and everyone is allowed to work as per their own convenience as long as you finish the task given to you.

Although the office isn’t huge, there is enough space to accommodate 3 to 4 interns.

Also there are various books and journals available in the office which you can read as when you feel like.

Main tasks

Attended proceedings in District Court, District Consumer Redressal Forum, Bhopal State Consumer Redressal Commission, Madhya Pradesh and Railway Claims Tribunal Bhopal.

Studied Criminal, Divorce, Taxation Cases.

Work environment

Work environment was very nice.

As there was no other intern at that time, so I was enjoying the work and play fully.

During the lunch break, we use to talk about the current topics and how the proceedings in the court went.

Best things

Best thing about the internship, apart from the fact that there was a lot to learn, was that sir gave everyone enough space and we were allowed to work as per our convenience.

Bad things

There were no bad things as such because learning is always good.

No Stipend.

Biggest Lessons

As it was my first court internship, I have learned how to manage time and work.

It was really a learning experience with a very healthy and energetic environment.

Anything else?

I learnt in this internship that to be a good advocate you need to be a good listener and a flexible person. I also learnt that learning process never ends.
