I recommend this firm to every law student interested in litigation and keen on learning, to intern here because this will definitely be the one of the better internships you can ask for practical knowledge. I researched and assisted in various arbitration matters and summary suits, administrative suits, testamentary suits, Caveat Form of the rules, Leave and License agreement, providing notices to other parties, making written statements and filing application for the registration of trademark and etc.
Lesson would be that the things that look easy should be taken seriously else it can turn the case against us only. Learnt drafting, researching. There is a lot to business law than just the Companies Act. Working in a law firm is not all that easy.
When I walked out of the firm that day there were few things that did flash in my mind. Interning is not always about working at big places, but its always about working at a young place and learning to grow. That could be learnt in Selvam and Selvam. By H.B.Keshava, 5th year, UPES
So my first day in the office was a bleak. I was given absolutely no work for the next four days. Besides fun talks with the advocate, there was no reason to stay in the office. We were often asked some questions related to Company law, Contracts, Family law.
The ‘human touch’ that everybody yearns for at a law firm internship was in abundance there. They never let me feel out of place. One of the reasons I would be more than happy to go back and work with them.
I recommend this firm to every law student interested in litigation and keen on learning, to intern here because this will definitely be the one of the better internships you can ask for. By Anusha Devi H, 1st year BA LLB School Of Law, Christ University
I mainly worked as an assistant to the associates, searching databases for citations, searching MCA website for various processes and contacts, I also helped them do some general work like true typing, printing and formatting of documents, and in the process I learnt the whole flowchart of how work is brought into the office, executed
I was the only intern during this period, but since the Associates were young and friendly we hung out during lunch hour and luckily Starbucks is round the corner as our various eateries and we used to catch a bite after office/ lunch. The research work was always time bound and really interesting. Learning is an important aspect of your internship as Associates might give you research notes to prepare on topics they'd like you to know about for your own benefit.
I have never interned in a place with a better atmosphere. People wanted the work done but that did not mean you are supposed to just stare at your screen. The associates had a lot of fun and made the interns very comfortable. By Kaustubh Rastogi, GNLU, 3rd Year
It being mainly an IPR Firm, most of the cases would range from trademark to copyright. Initially, the interns were just asked to read the cases, but after 2 days, we were made to ‘type’ a lot of petitions and written statements. By Rounak Nayak, SDM Law College, Mangalore, Fourth year
The associate used to get me yummy badam milk every time we went to court. If you get stuck with the work assigned to you, you could always ask the lawyers for help. By Sahana Devanathan. Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College, Bangalore. Third year.
He called me in to understand my inclinations, my strengths and what I was interested in learning and explained how can I make the most of the internship. He happened to be the most helpful person and guided me right from how to handle the simplest document. By Bharat Jain
It is mostly research based work, along with clerical tasks at times. Sometimes, the intern may also accompany an associate to the court proceedings. However, there is not much work pressure. Posted by Meesha Varshney
I've learnt the most. I got to do excellent work on diverse corporate and real-estate laws. I also attended a client meeting and tele-conferences. There wasn't a single day where I did any frivolous work or had to sit idle.
Anything that took our attention away from the judgment we would be reading, was like an invitation to talk, be it asking Vinod Kaka about her daughter’s imminent engineering admissions while he got us the coffee, or joking around with associates when they dropped in to check on our progress. Everyone at Tatva Legal can be seen chilling with each other while doing a lot of work. Someone usually takes the interns around to introduce them to each and everybody in the office on their first day. We waited for a while to be called for or assigned work but nothing of that sort happened. So we went to the associates ourselves to ask for work. We were finally assigned a small research task which 2 of us completed within 10 minutes. And then we were free again, for the rest of
No need to poke them, day in and out, if they like- they shall forward the same to the HR. They provide internship only for a month and in no case it stands extended. Posted by Saswatee Mohapatra. Anyone can post an internship experience HERE.
To be quite honest, the first impression was really bad. We were asked to report at 1. 30 and immediately after we did, we were sent to a court room where our mentor, Mr Phiroze Edulji was not even present. Posted by Shweta Rath Anyone can post HERE.
