Call for Papers: NLSIU’s Conference on Land Policies in South Asia [Sep 1-3]; Submit by March 31

The First South Asian Regional Conference of the International Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights 2015 on Land Policies in South Asia is being organised on September 1-2, 2015 by NLSIU, Bangalore.

Call for Papers

The conference welcomes papers that provide theoretical analysis, economic/social analysis of planning, case studies of the implementation of planning and regulation instruments, practices related to law and planning, analysis of case laws in a selected segment.

We particularly encourage students who can imaginatively approach the traditional issues even if their ideas are controversial.

Some of the tentative topics to which invitation is made are:

11. Participation in Planning

12. Smart Cities with innovative land and water management systems

All abstracts will be peer reviewed and decision about the inclusion of paper in the conference will be communicated in the last week of April 2015.


There are ten scholarships that will cover the full costs and travel for the Conference (applicable only for academics from India).

The recipients of the scholarship will be selected based on blind-folded peer review of academic papers submitted on any of the above themes.

Those intending to be considered for the scholarship must submit abstracts (for deadline see below) and their full papers (7000-8000 words) before 30 May 2015. Results will be communicated in the first week of July.

Dates to Remember:

Last date to send abstract (300 words): 31 March 2015

Intimation to authors regarding the selection of abstract: 30 April 2015

Last date to send full paper (for those intending to avail scholarship): 30 May 2015

Registration for the conference opens: 1 May 2015

Early bird registration closes (campus accommodation will be made available on first-come, first-serve basis): 30 June 2015

Conference dates: 1-3 September 2015
