Call for Chapters: English and Foreign Languages University’s Edited Book: Submit by September 15

Call for Chapters

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, English and Foreign Languages [EFL] University, Shillong Campus, India is seeking Chapter abstracts for our forthcoming Publications from Springer Nature Publishers: Narratives and New Voices from India: Cases of Community Development for Social Change’. There will be four main units in the book (details in the attachment).

They are looking for contributors working in the area of Communication and Social Change in India and about India.

Concept Note

The book ‘Narratives and New Voices from India: Cases of Community Development for Social Change’ is a reference book that aims its focus specifically on the potentialities of diverse voices from the communities residing in India and other parts of SE Asia towards social change. Communities worldwide are made of stories and dialogue which are at the heart of communication for social change.

It gives representation to people from diverse backgrounds the chance to share ideas, to inform and also to persuade for interaction and dialogue and ultimately for social change. The book aims to build a strong foundation of communication for social change on indigenous knowledge and traditions, basing the communication process as the societal realities within various communities.

The book will deal with the historical and theoretical trajectory of communication for social change as a discipline and shall bring case studies from the sphere of meaningful learning where individuals and communities are engaged in cooperative and dialogic environment with the goal of promoting change at multiple levels.

The book will also explore into case studies of various community media stations in India who are working in different parts of the country employing multiple languages and voices by adopting a narrative approach to communication and producing socially relevant edutainment programmes for the communities. Finally, the book will reflect on the art of storytelling for social change which is a potent way of developing and strengthening people’s confidence and skills to tell their own stories, explain their needs, and advocate for the kind of change they want.
