Summer School

The International Nuremberg Principles Academy invites young academics at the beginning of their careers to apply for scholarships for this year’s Summer School for Junior Professionals to be held in Nuremberg, Germany from August 1 to August 12, 2016.

In our selection, priority will be given to young scholars and teachers of international criminal law and humanitarian law from countries currently experiencing or likely to experience challenges in the field of accountability for international crimes.

The young academics will join other participants – young prosecutors, judges and investigating magistrates from the following countries: Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC); Cote d’Ivoire; Mali; Central African Republic (CAR); Nigeria; South Sudan; Libya; Ukraine and Georgia.

The Summer Academy provides participants an opportunity to acquire or deepen their knowledge of substantive and procedural aspects of international criminal law.

With the facilitation of leading experts and practitioners participants will also acquire practical knowledge on all aspects relating to the investigation, prosecution and adjudication of core international crimes and get an introduction to transnational crimes.

A tour of the historic Court 600 where the trial of Nazi leaders was conducted by International Military Tribunal and the city of Nuremberg are part of the guided tour on offer.
