I had sent my internship application request (CV) directly to Vikram Sir’s email ID mentioning the preferred period of internship.

Email ID: vikram[at]cvlawchambers.com.

First Day Formalities and First Impression

Due to the COVID-19 situation and lockdown in various places, the internship was done online. An associate had set up a video call with Vikram Sir on the first day. Sir spoke to us and tried to understand why we had chosen law and our passion for it.

He made us feel comfortable from the first day itself. I was asked to talk about the articles I had written before as I had mentioned it. The next day I was asked to present one of the cases I had spoken about on a video call where all the associates of the firm were present.

Main Tasks

This internship has provided me with a strong base and clarity to move ahead in my coming years since I was a first-year student. It was a wholesome experience.

Following tasks were performed by me:

  • Drafting legal opinions on the cases handled by the firm.
  • Extensive research and drafting on various Acts and case laws.
  • Filing of a Writ Petition on a matter which was to be handled by sir himself.
  • Attending client meetings and noting down important points.
  • Making case briefs of the cases which sir had to present in the Court.
  • Research on various Bills.
  • Gaining experience as to the practical applicability of laws learned in my curriculum.
  • Frequent video conferences with Vikram Sir and the associates.
  • Presentation of debatable topics on video conferences.

Good Things

Interning under Sir was one of my best decisions. Even though I was in the first year, Sir never neglected me or there was never a dearth of work for an intern.

I surely gained knowledge and experience in Commercial Litigation and Arbitration. I always felt like I was a part of the firm. Even the trivial doubts were cleared by Sir and his associates. We were always encouraged to work and give our best.

Vikram Sir used to send us highly motivating quotes and short notes daily which kept us going. I gained confidence in public speaking and presenting matters because of his encouraging words and guidance.

Sir would also suggest us inspiring books and shows to watch which he would personally discuss with us on call amid his busy schedule. Sir would give us the background of a particular matter which made it easier for us to understand and grasp the concepts and important points of the case.

I would recommend this internship to all the serious ones out there. If you are determined and passionate about law, this is one of the best places to learn and intern. You gain confidence, life management, clarity, professionalism, and of course a lot of legal knowledge. This experience will make you ready to face work-life situations.

Bad Things

There are no cons as such but the timings could be a problem sometimes. Since it was an online internship, there were no fixed timings. We were given a few late-night tasks which seemed complex and tiring at first but we got a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction once we had finished it.

There was a lot of work provided at times but that is exactly how litigation works so we also learned how to work under time pressure. Sundays were also working days provided that there was work going on at the Office.

Stipend

The stipend depends on the performance of the intern. If Vikram Sir feels that the intern performed sincerely and added value to the work, he pays them generously.

Conclusion

This internship teaches one Discipline, Determination, and value of hard work. It is very rare when superior pay attention to an intern and I am glad to have interned in this esteemed firm under Vikram Sir. Sir takes a lot of enthusiasm and personally encourages each intern to put in their best efforts.

One will learn how to use their time well and never quit even if there is pressure. Sir always said “Quitting now means, quitting from your path, your goals, your dreams.” And this is something which I think everybody must know and learn.

This is a suitable place for interns who are serious in their approach and have a passion for law.
