First impression, First day formalities, Infrastructure:

I met the internship coordinator who gave me a form and I was immediately introduced to everyone in the office. She then guided me through the paraphernalia in the office, and briefed me as to the workings of the office, the administration etc. They also provided me with an Intern Code of Conduct which laid down the rules and regulations to be followed by interns.

The office is located at Nariman Point. The firm has an approximate strength of 19 people.

Dress Code: Black and white formals.

The office has a pantry and they provide tea and coffee at regular intervals.

Main Tasks:

The firm specializes in dealing with Maritime matters. They also give brief work to interns regarding arbitration and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. Interns are supposed to submit an article on the last day of their internship (in relation to the work undertaken). Interns are allowed to choose the topic of their article.

Work environment and People:

The work environment was friendly and supportive. They have varieties of work and are always ready to attend to doubts. They also ask you to fill a questionnaire before accepting your internship application to structure your internship and know your experience in dealing with maritime matters.

Best Things:

The associates are approachable and are always ready to help you.

The mix of work is also great as you won’t get bored. Anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in maritime law must intern here once. The associates also take you to court if you have worked on that particular matter.

Bad Things:

None.

Stipend:

None.

Biggest Lessons:

No matter what kind of work you are allocated, there is always something to learn from it.

Accommodation:

As my family stays in Mumbai, accommodation was not an issue.

But, there are a lot of hostels and PGs available in Churchgate and Marine Lines area.
