First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The Axon Partners office is based out at C-4/3, Safdarjung Development Area, New Delhi, which in itself is a very posh locality.
It’s quite a fancy place with amazing decor, topped with some classic modern art hanging in every other corner of the office.
The whole basement of the building is the office of Axon Partners. On the first day, we were introduced to the firm and the people by the Senior Associate of the firm.
Later half, Mr. Bhandari himself had a word with all the interns, asked us about our prior internships and our area of interest. Basing on the both, he allotted us teams (more specifically, associates) under whom we shall be working for the entire sprint.
Axon Partners LLP is comparatively new and has two partners as of now, along with two Senior Associates and some 7-8 associates. Considering its new entry, the firm has established itself quite successfully in the corporate as well at the litigation realm.
Interns in the litigation team were given a set of research work on arbitration matter from day one itself. Interns in the corporate department were required to assist to associates and travel to the client’s office and work from there.
So we had to travel to the client’s office for two weeks. The work involved a lot of due diligence. At one point of time, the associates and the interns were working on the same thing. So, there was more of responsibility involved.
The last week involved a lot of research work on interesting topics and also, proof reading a set of documents.
Work environment and people
The people at Axon Partners are extremely jovial. You can approach them for the simplest of hindrance you face at work. Interns are provided their own space. However, you need to take you own laptop to the office.
There is a pantry and you can avail yourself of coffee and snack anytime you want to. Lunch hour is usually of an hour and you can walk a bit to a few eateries around. There’s Subway, Costa Coffee, Barista, and the like. You can also have lunch at a South Indian restaurant in close proximity.
There’s just so much to learn from a smaller firm because of the flexible environment and the channeling of work to each intern.
You are guided personally and there is much, much more interaction you can avail of.
Both the partners are just too well read and you can get to learn a lot working with them.
