2017 to 11th January 2018.

Office Timings

10: 30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

First Day 1st Impression

The office of the NGO is located just near the Lucknow University so it was easy to locate with the help of Google maps. When I entered the office I was provided with a form in which I had to fill my basic details. The office is not big. They have 2 rooms and a waiting area. On my first day, I was asked to accompany the secretary of the NGO to the High Court, Lucknow bench as the NGO is very active in the environmental litigation.

Main Work

The NGO deals in both legal and nonlegal work. The main functions of the institution are doing research and litigation in the field of Environment, Right to Education. The other works include the filing of RTI applications, conducting surveys, fundraising, event management, focusing towards childcare.

The organization conducts blood donation camps on regular basis and is also very interested in the proper development of Lucknow city. During my internship, they had 3 cases pending in the Lucknow bench and 1 case in NGT, New Delhi related to the environment which helped me get an insight of Environment Activism.

Since I belong to Lucknow, accommodation was not a problem for me.

Best Thing

The best part was that I got the opportunity learned a lot and interact with different
people from different walks of life. There was not even a single day when I got bored
during the internship. There’s a variety of work, like drafting RTI applications, going for  plantation drive, sitting in a radio office for promotion work, meeting with the mayor and all big shots of Lucknow city.

Bad Things

Don’t expect any leniency from them. They are very strict to the work and show interest
only in candidates who are honest toward their work.

Big Lesson

To live to sustain life you need a better environment, money is secondary.
