Akshita Mohnot, Unitedworld School Of Law, Uvarsad, Gandhinagar, Second Year.
Duration of the Internship
15 May to 30 May (2 weeks).
Internship in the summer of 2015 (15 may to 30 may).
We had our internship through our college. The first day didn’t go really good. 20 girls were made to sit in one court room and observe the court. Since it was our first internship we didn’t have any idea what was going on and we felt lost.
We were not able to understand anything, so I and my colleague, we decided to start our internship under a private Advocate, then we met Advocate Rakesh Nahar, a well known advocate at consumer court, we met him through a contact.
Already three boys from our college were doing their internship under his guidance, we decided to join them.
From the next day itself we had a fresh start of our internship. Rakesh sir were a great guide or I must say our guru.
He taught us how a complaint was filed in consumer court and he explained the whole working of the consumer court and because of him our internship experience was really fun and fruitful. Our schedule was, we assisted him in the court from 10 to 3 and then in the evening from 5 to 7 we would go to his office.
The work environment was really good and we were like family. We learnt a lot from him. He would make us do really hard work. We were given files to read and our suggestions were sought in the cases or I can say our knowledge about consumer law was checked.
Environment of Consumer Court
Consumer court was a nice and pleasant place. People there were very helpful. There was a clerk, Khan Bhai (as everyone would call him that), he helped us a lot and he was a very jolly person. He showed us how a complaint is filed and how the court functions and was ever ready to help us and would be there for us whenever needed.
We had made an impression at the court as we were under Rakesh sir and we had represented a complaint in the district court in front of the president of the court so even the president acknowledged us and praised us which boosted our confidence.
Every advocate practicing there was good and helped us. They were all so good that we could freely go and ask them for help and they were ready to do so.
Since we know Gujarat’s High Court is the most modern court in our country the consumer court is no less. It is well designed, air-conditioned and neat and tidy.
We were given certificates from Adv. Rakesh Nahar and also from the president of the Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, which has surely put a star to our C.V.
