He also has associate working under him and are very knowledgeable and eager to share their legal wisdom with interns. Apart from that, he has one Personal Secretary and about 3-4 persons in his staff who will assist in day to day affairs at court and office.

Office Timings

The office timings are from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the office and 6 days a week. He is strict with the timings and believes in punctuality.

Day 1 Formalities

On the very first day I reported at 10:00 am and in the next 15-20 minutes his secretary, took me to my desk, where the associate handed me my first research work.

Thereafter Post Lunch, I got the opportunity to meet him, he was very cordially in the meet and asked me about my college, my area of interests in Law and thereafter asked me to observe a Virtual Conference (VC) relating to a matter of Arbitration Law. Post VC. He discussed the matter with me in brief.

Nature of Assignments and Style of Working

From 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM interns are supposed to be in the office as due to COVID-19, the courts were working virtually so could not observe and attend the proceeding in Supreme Court.

Generally, Mr. Ankit Swarup directly assigns cases to be worked upon to interns but sometimes Associates will also assign work to interns in the matter to be listed before courts either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

The main task as an intern is to read bulky case files and determine the Question of Law and then work extensively on finding legal precedents/case Laws of Supreme Court or High Court or a relevant Tribunal. The work included quality research on some very interesting current matters related to Criminal Law, Negotiable Instruments Act, Land Laws, Arbitration Law and many more. Apart from legal research the intern also assists the associate in drafting Legal opinions for Big- Shot Clients.

At the end of the day, Mr. Ankit Swarup would call the interns in his cabin and would discuss the relevancy of the research work allotted. Once you submit your work after spending and working on a Legal preposition for almost an entire day or so, Don’t get satisfied too early, re-read it again and again. Mr. Ankit Swarup will test your ability and would also give you ample opportunity to self-judge and introspect where are you lacking.

Work Environment and People

The work environment is very cordial and the staff is also very helpful.

Accommodation

I stayed in Noida at my friend’s place. Although one can get a PG in Laxmi Nagar which is just 20 minutes away from the office.
