By: manyaa | September 16, 2018

Name, College, Year

Manyaa Chandok, 4th Year student at Amity Law School, Delhi (GGSIPU).

Kabir Dixit Sir, Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi

3rd March 2018 – 14th April 2018. Though my internship was scheduled to be for one month, it however got extended for another two weeks due to urgent, additional work.

Application Process

The application process is fairly simple. I applied through an email with a cover letter and my CV at [email protected] You can also approach Sir on LinkedIn.

I did a running internship (post college hours), so my timings were usually from 2.30pm to 8/9pm from Monday to Friday and 10am to 7/8pm on Saturdays. Sundays are generally off, except in case of any urgent work.

The timings generally depend on the nature of the work and the deadlines.

The office address is C-41, Lower Ground, Jangpura Extension, New Delhi – 14. The office is in the basement. Sir has a separate room, while the clerk, associates and interns sit in a common room.

First day formalities

One the first day, I had a familiarisation session with Sir, before he assigned me my first task. There aren’t any formalities as such.

Accommodation, travel

I live in Delhi, so I didn’t have to hunt for any accommodation. However, I understand that PGs are easily available in Jangpura itself, and also in Lajpat Nagar, which is only 15-20 minutes away.

Main tasks

I was engaged in very exhaustive and quality work, which is exactly what I was looking for, in this internship. I was assigned work on two cases right from the initial reading, till filing in the Supreme Court.

My work, thus, included intricate understanding of the cases, interaction with clients, extensive research and articulate drafting. Particularly, I drafted and filed applications, revision petitions and even an SLP.

Work Environment

Sir made it very easy to work with him by being constantly available in person, over the phone and email. I used to have legal discussions with him about the work, where he gave due regard to my views and opinions (something rare to find).

One of the great things about Sir is that, he doesn’t shy away from giving exposure and a platform to those who show sincerity and dedication in the tasks assigned. He’s a motivator and a mentor, and never hesitates in giving due appreciation.

The clerk, the associates and Sir himself, make the work environment very positive and comfortable. Everyone is ready to help and put in team efforts. It’s a fun place to work, with a light-hearted atmosphere!

Good things

If you’re interested in actually learning some quality work, and are ready to work hard, this place will give you right platform and exposure.

Bad things

There were no negatives.

No Stipend.
