Academike, legal Journal by Lawctopus, is organising an academic essay competition. Academike publishes well-written and-researched pieces around law and intersections of law, social and political.
About the Essay Competition
Academike is organising the essay competition to platform young scholars and authors. The intent is to encourage academic writing and research in the field of law and its intersections. This competition will also provide you with the opportunity to get published, provided you submit your best work.
Additionally, we encourage Dalit, Bahujan, Adivasis and Trans communities to send their entries for the essay competition.
There are no thematic limitations. However, all submissions must be related to law and its intersections. All we expect from you is nuanced, well-researched and written pieces. You can check out Academike to understand the themes we have published and get a better idea.
Introducing Special Category of Submission
This time around, we are starting a new category, response articles. This category will require you to write a response essay/article on the pieces already published on Academike. Your response cannot be unfounded and must be cited well. It should also show a good understanding of the subject on which the initial paper was based.
Please remember that we will only consider response articles/essays on the articles published on Academike in the last year.
You are free to critique the pieces and differ if you’d like intellectually. Additionally, you can always concur.
Generally, a response paper constitutes two broad parts. One of these includes the summary of the article or work you are going to critique. The second part is dedicated to your understanding or detailed argument against or for the primary paper.
You can read more about response papers within academic formats here.
- The submission must not exceed 4000 words. Kindly avoid unnecessary jargon to avoid verbosity.
- All pieces must be well researched and written with utmost conviction.
- A well-written abstract
- Use uniform citations (could be any, Bluebook, MLA, APA, SILC, NUJS Law Review, ILI, etc.)
- For the font, kindly use Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing for the main body of your piece.
We will outrightly reject any submissions that have more than 25 per cent plagiarism. Also, we can tell when you replace the original text with fancy words. 😉
Last Date To Apply: September 26, 2021!
You can send your entries by September 26. Only those pieces submitted before September 26 will be selected for screening.
