The Indian Journal of Law and Technology (IJLT) and the Software Freedom Law Centre (SFLC) are proud to announce the 2nd IJLT-SFLC Law & Technology Essay Competition 2014.
Open to undergraduate law students across India, this essay competition seeks to encourage creative thinking and promote research and writing about crucial legal issues in the field of information technology and the internet.

The Indian Journal of Law and Technology (IJLT), is a student-run law journal published by the National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
Apart from being India’s only law journal devoted exclusively to the interface between law and technology and featuring articles from distinguished authors such as Hon. Justice Mr. Kirby, Raymond T. Nimmer, Donald S. Chisum, Lawrence Liang among others; the journal also organises several events such as a lecture series in association with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), a broadband policy course with LIRNEAsia and research assistance to academics for projects that they are engaged in.
sflc.in is a donor supported legal services organisation that brings together lawyers, policy analysts, technologists, and students to protect freedom in the digital world.
The major focus of the organisation is to educate various stakeholders on the legal aspects of Technology and the Internet.

Bitcoins – a viable currency? Regulatory and legal issues
The winning law essays shall be determined through a blind review by a panel of eminent academicians in the field of law and technology.
There will be two judges from each of the aforementioned areas.
Ist Prize – Rs. 15,000
IInd Prize – Rs. 10,500
IIIrd Prize – Rs. 7,500
Best First Year Student Essay – Rs. 5,000
The winning law essay shall also be considered for publication in the next issue of IJLT, in accordance with the Editorial Policy.
Essays must be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by June 20, 2014 at 11.59 pm (IST) in a .doc/.docx/.odf/.pdf format.
