Christ Academy Institute of Law is organizing the 2nd CAIL National Moot Court Competition 2022 on environmental law, to be held on September 3 and 4, 2022 in hybrid mode.

About the College

Christ Academy Institute of Law (CAIL) is a prominent law school located in Bengaluru and is affiliated to the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU).

CAIL aims at molding leaders who are intellectually, spiritually, and morally upright and who will strive for the cause of justice, truth, and peace.

Under the management of the Carmalites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) priests and guided by India’s core constitutional values, the curriculum at CAIL aims to deliver socially engaged legal education meeting the highest global academic and professional standards.

It directly engages with social challenges, especially evaluating and responding to the legal dimensions of globalization and its impact. Five-year B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., and B.Com. LL.B. programs are offered from a 33-acre lush green campus located at the outskirts of Bengaluru.

About the Event

Christ Academy Institute of Law is organizing the 2nd Christ Academy Institute of Law (CAIL) National Moot Court Competition 2022 to be held on September 3 and 4, 2022. The competition will be conducted in a hybrid mode.

Environmental issues have become a priority in politics, law, economics, sociology in addition to the traditional subjects of environmental science, geology, ecology etc. There is a shared responsibility, between states and people, to care for and protect the environment.

Hence, for its second edition, the moot proposition attempts to draw environmental issues to the forefront.


The Competition is open to bonafide undergraduate students from recognized Colleges/Institutions/Universities who are currently pursuing their bachelor’s degree in Law i.e. 3-year LL.B. or 5 year Integrated or Honours LL.B. Programme with all combinations on a regular basis.

Team Composition

  1. Each team shall comprise a maximum of three members and a minimum of two members consisting of either two speakers, or two speakers, and one researcher, respectively. The number cannot be modified under any circumstances post-registration. 
  2. Teams shall identify the speakers and researcher during registration. No extra member or observer shall be allowed. No swapping of designation of the members shall be allowed. 
  3. No more than one team shall be allowed to register and participate in the competition from the same College/Institution /University. 

How to Register?

The Registration process is as follows: 

  1. Teams are required to complete their provisional registration by July 10, 2022 by 23:59 IST.
  2. The provisional registration shall be done by filling up the application linked at the end of this post.
  3. The final registration must be completed on or before July 10, 2022 by payment of INR 4,000/- per team along with an approval from their moot court Faculty Coordinator/Dean/Principal with the details of the participating team to be sent to [email protected]. The email must also contain a screenshot of the payment details. 
  4. The registration shall be deemed complete only when the provisional registration form is duly filled, approval from the moot court Faculty Coordinator/Dean/Principal is received and the registration fee is paid. 
  5. Once the final registration is done Teams will get the confirmation email along with their Team Codes. 
  6. The confirmation of the names at the time of online registration shall be treated as final and no change of name shall be allowed thereafter, except if it is found to be necessary at the sole discretion of the Organizers. 
  7. The registration fee is non-refundable and no claim for refund of the fee shall be entertained. 

Payment Details

The fee can be paid through either Back transfer or UPI apps like Paytm /PhonePe/Google Pay on the QR given in the Brochure linked below. 


  1. Winner: INR 50,000
  2. Runner Up: INR 20,000 
  3. Best Speaker: INR 5,000
  4. Best Memorial: INR 5,000 

*Certificates will be provided to all participants

Important Dates

  1. Last date for registration: July 10, 2022 by 23:59 IST.
  2. Last date for final registration by Payment of Registration fees: July 10, 2022.
  3. Last date for clarification regarding Moot Problem: July 9, 2022.
  4. Release of clarification regarding Moot Problem: July 16, 2022.
  5. Submission of Written Memorial: July 24, 2022.
  6. Inauguration and Draw of Lots: August 6, 2022.
  7. Preliminary Rounds (Online): August 7, 2022
  8. Quarter-Finals, Semi-finals, Finals Rounds, and Valedictory (Offline): September 3 and 4, 2022


The Competition shall be held in two phases: 

  1. Phase 1, Preliminary Rounds: On August 7, 2022 (Online)
    • Venue: Google Meet URL which shall be shared with the participants at the appropriate time. 
  2. Phase 2, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final Rounds: On September 3 and 4, 2022 (Offline)
    • Venue: Christ Academy Institute of Law, Bengaluru
