Shri. Ram Jethmalani & JLU Chair on Criminal Law and Criminal Justice is organizing a Two Day International Workshop on International Workshop on ‘Recovery and Rehabilitation of Child Victims of Sexual Abuse’ on January 28 & 29, 2021 in collaboration with Gujarat National Law University.

About the Organizer

Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal is a private university established under Section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956 and is based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. JLU Bhopal is one of the fastest growing and one of the most awarded University of Central India having practice-based pedagogy at its core. Criminal law and criminal justice have always been the fields of practice and research. Law needs to keep pace with the rapid changes in society. Various dimensions of crime have emerged in the past few decades. Shri Ram Jethmalani & JLU Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice aims to ensure continuous growth in the area of criminal law and to establish a common platform for those who have a stake in the criminal justice system of the country. It also aspires to create a bridge between the vulnerable and underprivileged sections of the society and criminal justice system.

About the Workshop

The two-day workshop will largely focus on the issues related to child sexual abuse and progress made for the protection and implementation of laws related to them.

  • The right of children to physical and personal integrity is related to the fundamental right to life and personal and social development.

All forms of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse against children may have serious negative short-term and long-term physical, mental, and reproductive health consequences. These include physical injury, sexually transmitted infections, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, unplanned pregnancy, and in some cases death. Good treatment will produce positive effects on the physical and mental development of children. To ensure a healthy society, it is of critical importance that children who have been subjected to abuse and neglect are given the appropriate support in treatment and dignified rehabilitation.

In the span of two days, the workshop would:

  • Discuss the national and global overview of child sexual abuse and different legislations and policies available on the same in India.
  • The workshop shall also address the issues related to mental health and development of such children and shall also include the recovery and rehabilitation of Child Victims of Sexual Abuse.

Participants are requested to register by filling the Google form before the deadline and attach the receipt of payment of the registration fee in the Registration Form. The Registration Fee (non-refundable) is as follows:

  • JLU Students: Rs. 300/-
  • Students of Other Institutions: Rs. 500/-
  • Professionals and other participants: Rs.1000/-
  • International Participants: $20
