1st NALSAR Student Bar Debate [Sept 23, Hyderabad]: Open Invitation

1st NALSAR Student Bar Debate

NALSAR University of Law will be hosting its first ever Student Bar Debate, on the 23rd of September, 2016. This is part of NALSAR’s constant endeavor to provide fora for views on contemporary socio-legal issues and trying to understand the society in its dynamic equilibrium.

This year, the University will host some of the most eminent names in the nation, to help us understand the politicisation of college campuses through the motion: “This house will ban all organized political activity on Indian campuses”.

From Delhi to Hyderabad to Kashmir to Calcutta, this year has seen some of the most path breaking political activity on university campuses, and this has seen both strong support and criticism.

The speakers at the bar debate will provide insights into the motion like never before. Mr. Syed Sultan Ahmed, educator, film-maker, and media person and Mr. Adithya Reddy, eminent lawyer, and freelance journalist will be joined by a student speaker as they propose this motion.

Opposing the motion would be Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyar, former Cabinet minister, jounalist and writer; Mr. AK Khan, former ACB Chief of Telangana and Prof. Hargopal, ICSSR National Fellow with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad. The sextate will seek to disect the issue on socio-legal, economic, political and pedagogical parameters.
