The brochure promised unadulterated fun in the Sun City of Jodhpur. True to word, the fest that takes its name from the location of National Law University, Jodhpur was a brilliant cocktail of fun and the spirit of competition.
RGNUL Patiala demonstrated that spirit in ample amount to not only grab the winners trophy pipping NLU-Delhi but also the Spirit of NH-65 award.
The festive season in NLU began on 7th October as the first Literary & Cultural fest of National law Univeristy, Jodhour stood inaugurated. Post the registration of all teams, in the day-time, The Hon’ble VC of NLU, Jodhpur Justice N.N. Mathur welcomed all participants from across the country.
The first day witnessed the participation of law coleges including NLIU, Bhopal, NLU, Delhi, RGNUL, Patialia, IP University, Delhi and NLU, Jodhpur in the various music events.
The evening started with the performance of NLU Singers which therafter was followed by various other events. The audience hummed at the tune of Indian Classical performances in the event “Raga” and some also tapped their feet in the “Western Solo Performances”.
The flagship events of NH-65 began on the 2nd day of the fest. It witnessed participation of more that 20 teams in events like Parliamentary Debate, Presidential Debate and Extemporee moot.
For those with creative instincts, events like Word’s worth (poem writing) and Tales Spin (Creative Story Writing) were on offer.
The evening witnessed plethora of cultural events including Extemporee Duet competition, Theme Dance etc. The band performance by NLU, Jodhpur enthralled all the participants as they tuned to the music ranging from Coke Studio to Beatles.
Along with the quarters of Parliamentary and Presidential Debate, the third day witnessed the Mega Quiz, conducted by Sayan Bhattacharya (Renowned Quiz Master and Student of Delhi School of Economics).
The winner of Mega Quiz- Mayank Mikhail Mukherjee, “Triple M” from NUJS, Kolkata requires a special reference as he stood first in the event alone competing against other 3 member Quiz Teams.
The Street Play competition took place in the afternoon on the theme of “Athithi Devo Bhava”. Universities from Punjab, Delhi took part in the event and serious issues such as Commonwealth corruption and Harassment of Foreign Tourists were addressed amidst all the laughter, sarcasm and jingle.
The event was won by RGNUL, Patiala.
Art Events such as Simple Drawing and Playing God were also organized in the afternoon.
The evening witnessed participation of students in events such as Mad Ads, Whose Line is it anyway etc. The show at the night was one of the most awaited events of NH-65: Live Performance by Junkyard Groove.
The entire ground was filled with students tapping their feet, raising their hands and banging their heads on the tunes of Junkyard Groove performance.
As the last day of the fest approached, the final rounds for most of the flagship events were conducted. The Parliamentary Debate Finals was one of the most popular event where NLU Delhi was the opposition against RGNUL- Patiala being judged by a 13 member adjudication panel.
Finally the opposition won with a spilt verdict.
The finals of Extemporee moot was also a great event as a 7 judge bench comprising faculty and alumni decided a case on international law in US, Supreme Court argued by RMLNLU, Lucknow and NLIU, Bhopal.
NLIU, Bhopal won the event and a student from RMLNLU, Lucknow won the best speaker award.
Music performance on a fusion of Indian and Western Raga, Solo Dance performance on Rajasthani Folk dance and group performance on Vande Mataram etc. enthralled all students and ensured that the participants left with beautiful memories!
The closing address by the Vice-Chancellor emphasized on the need of such academic cum cultural fests.
In the end the formal prize distribution ceremony was conducted. National Law University, Delhi won the NH-65 Runners up trophy for Best Team. RGNUL- Patiala prized both the awards of Spirit of NH-65 and Best Team NH-65 award.Read More
