The center for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad is organizing a three day Teacher Training Programme (West Zone-Gujarat) on International Humanitarian Law in association with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), India.
Aim and Objective
The main aim of the teacher training programme is to impact a basic overview of International Humanitarian Law.
This programmes is aimed at research scholars and young faculty at Law universities/law schools/colleges based in Gujarat.
Participants will be trained in specific and contemporary issues in IHL.
The challenges facing this area of law will also be discussed during the training session.
The programme will also cover IHL teaching techniques, methodology as well as literature that is relevant to the teaching of the IHL at the University Level.
During the practical sessions, participants will be asked to prepare themselves to make a presentation on the given facts/case law relating to the topics.
The lecture sessions will commence at 9:00 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM on all days. An hour will be provided for lunch, along with two coffee/tea breaks of one half hour each.
The maximum number of participants for this programme is 25.
The training programme is scheduled for 30th, 31st August and 1st September 2016.
On successful completion of the programme certificate will be provided.
The programme will be facilitated by Dr. Anuradha Saibaba, Legal Advisor, Academic Programmes, ICRC Regional Delegation in New Delhi. Resource persons would also be invited from other parts of the country. A copy of the detailed programme would be subsequently mailed.
Course Fees, Travel Expenses and Accommodation
No fees is charged for participating in the training programme.
Participants will be provided with the instructional material, library and internet facility.
Travel Expenses (bus or two-tier train) will be provided after the submission of requisite bills.
Participants will be provided with food/snacks and accommodation within the university campus
