JOB POST: Natural Justice is Looking for an Associate Researcher; Apply by May 30

Natural Justice: Lawyers for Communities and the Environment is an international collective of legal practitioners established in 2007, with the vision of using the law to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity through the self-determination of indigenous peoples and local communities (communities). The organization is headquartered in South Africa.

Natural Justice is piloting an inter-regional project on exploring biocultural community protocols as a means to support communities in engaging with external stakeholders in the context of extractive industries. The project is an action-research project guided by a common framework methodology, with case studies in Argentina, Kenya, Zimbabwe and India.

We are looking for an Associate Researcher to work in the state of Odisha, India to support research needs of our partner organization, especially on questions related to legal and industry review, assessing community dynamics etc. based on guidance from the framework methodology.

The key roles and responsibilities will include:

1. Research on questions guided by the framework methodology

2. Assisting in developing strategies, reports and field based activities in the context

3. Assisting in the development of outreach material for communities

4. Approaching different stakeholders where relevant for the research
