Application Process

As I came to know that he is a renowned lawyer I contacted his office by mailing my Curriculum Vitae and application for willing to do internship under him. He considered me and called me for an interview. After two days his staff called me and informed about my selection and asked me to join.

Address – 16 – C, Patrika Marg, Civil Lines, Allahabad – 211001

Duration of internship and timings

24th May,2015 – 28th June, 2015

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

The first impression was that when I reached the Marble hall of Allahabad High Court. He was arguing the Chief justice Court and when he after the hearing when he saw me but before I could wish him he said to me that “Good Morning Tripathiji” I experienced his kindness in his words.

There were not much formalities as I had already done the formalities with his staff during my interview. After the court when I reached his chamber he was busy with client so he asked one of his staff to allot me with work. His chamber was in the first and ground floor of his Bungalow, the office was well built and divided into multiple sections all staff were busy with their work.

Main tasks

I was allotted with two projects and Studying cases which the office was dealing with and had to check and inform about the case when the number comes.I also had to observe the cases in different courts and also had to study constitution and learn about writ petitions .i was was also asked to do the research work.

Work environment and people

The environment was really good and the people working out their were very helpful and kind, everybody used to help me in spite of being very busy but whenever I asked for help they helped me. Mr. Umesh Narayan Sharma himself used to help me and explain me everything such as petitions, writs, researching etc.he used to guide me as if he is my teacher after being a busy man.

Best things

The best thing was I became well versed with writ petitions, studied constitution which is very helpful for me as in my 3rd semester there is constitution paper.

I never been to High Court after being the resident of Allahabad but because of this internship I have experiences the environment of court and also cleared all my misconception about court which existed by watching movies.

Bad things

If I say truly, I expected same environment and things what I was observing since childhood in the movies which doesn’t come true. It was heart breaking, apart from jokes the internship was in the summers so it was too hot.

As I was just in my 1st year, I found a few difficulties in framing arguments and studying cases.

Stipend

None

Biggest Lessons

I got well exposed to the reality of the law career and the real Courts and also about framing real cases other than moot court memorials.

On the other hand, if we will not be knowledgeable and not well versed with the law the their will be no space in the courts.

If we’ll be knowledgeable then only we’ll succeed.

Lastly Doing internship under lawyers is must if anybody is pursuing law as per my experience and observation.
