Internship @ Rajasthan Human Rights Commission, Jaipur: Project Work, Field Visits, No Stipend

“Studying in Law College is worthless if you are not doing internship. It is platform which provides you practical knowledge and how to face challenge in Life. And a way to know your Potential. It is like a stage where you have to perform whatever you learned from Law School. ”

NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION. CITY:

I did my internship from Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission (RSHRC) which is situated in capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur.

HOW BIG WAS THE OFFICE? NUMBER OF INTERNING STUDENTS?

The main office RSHRC is situated in Secretariat but we had our Internship in OTS (Officers Training School). JLN Marg Jaipur. We nearly 50-60 students were there. And Deepa Mam was the one who was in charge of internship.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE. INTERNSHIP CONTACT DETAILS:

I got to know about this Internship from one of my Senior. I sent email to [email protected] along with my CV. I got my confirmation mail after one month. Or you can get their contact number also from website HERE.

DURATION IN WEEKS. NO. OF DAYS/WEEK. TIMINGS:

I interned for 4 weeks in June. Timing was 11 to 5.

We have to reach by 10:45. However, you can reach little bit late also if you have any urgent work, but you have to notify to Mam.  And yeah we have to give attendance twice every day. And every day used to have lunch break from 1 to 2.

ACCOMMODATION: HOW, WHERE, HOW WAS IT?

I stayed in a PG at Tonk Fatak, from where I commuted by City Bus every day. PGs are available in the colony itself at reasonable rates. Bus used to take nearly 10 Min from my PG.  So for me it was very convenient to travel. There were few peoples who had problem with staying so Mam talked to OTS officers and they provided them accommodation in OTS itself. So you can take PG, these are available everywhere in Jaipur.

FIRST IMPRESSION. FIRST DAY, FORMALITIES ETC.:

1st day we did not do any serious work, 1st  of all we all filled up the form, then  inauguration took place. Mr Chairman, Dy Secy and Secretary of RSHRC and two more prominent people were present during the inauguration. Then we all gave introduction to these personalities. After that we had break. After that we selected our projects, out of what project topics given to us for Internship period.

And after that we had an activity. Deepa Mam asked us to team up, every team had 10 members. 1st task was to know name of each member from our group and then we have to discuss some questions related to Human Rights and related Organisations amongst our group.

After some time period Mam asked to those question and declared one group best group. So this discussion gave us opportunity to know each other because everyone was from different colleges and basic idea what human rights are exactly.

MAIN TASKS:  We all got project Topics in the starting of internship. All projects topics were discussed by two prominent faculty with us. So we had good opportunity to understand project topics and to choose topics. Project topics were given according to group wise it was not individual base.

All Topics were related to Human Rights issue like Human Rights and Senior Citizens, Rape Victims, Child labourer etc.  After that we had classes every day in the morning session and then one hour break then in afternoon session we visited many places. In morning session we used to have two lectures everyday on very important topics by very good teachers.

We had lectures on Concepts and Declaration of human Rights, RTI, Gender Sensitisation, Human Rights and Police: How Police violates people’s rights and how their rights are getting violate, Human Rights of disabled person, Human Rights of prisoner, Human rights of SCs, STs and women, and Human Rights and Jammuu & Kashmir and North East states, Traffic rules and violation, one motivation class, Research Methodology class, Human Rights in Indian Constitution, Human Rights and Judiciary, Human Rights and Judicial Activism, and we also had class on case studies on Human Rights, there was one PPT class also who does not know how to present projects and all. During break time they provided us tea and tea was really good. And we had to bring our food, they used to provide tea only.

In afternoon session we visited many places like Central Jail, Vidhan Sabha, Secretariat, Police Station, Police Academy, Open Jail, NGO Mahaveer Viklang Sahayta Samiti, Mental Hospital, pink city press club, and place where Dainik Bhaskar newspaper prints, we took round of OTS also etc.

Sometimes during break period we had Debates also on current topics.

At the end of Internship we submitted our projects and each group gave presentation. From each group one student got best presentation certificate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PEOPLE: Everyone was very nice, I got many good friends, teachers were also very good.  Overall environment was superb. We had lot of fun and learned many things during that period.

BEST THING ABOUT INTERNSHIP: OTS, place where we interned was near one of the biggest shopping mall namely World Trade Park and GT so we got good opportunity for lot of shopping’s and good food. It was just a Km away. Smriti Van is also attached to OTS and its beautiful place worth to Visit.

During this Internship we had practical experience when we visited places. It was really a very different experience by visiting these places than by reading books.

BAD THING ABOUT INTERNSHIP: Nothing was bad except Human Rights Commission does not own vehicle, but they arranged vehicle for us we ourselves arranged just for twice.

STIPEND
